Well, I must say, Medved nailed it on the head.

Hey Mikey.... Shhhhh.

If you protect them from every little implosion, they'll never learn. Give 'em a fork and point 'em toward an electrical outlet.

It's for their own good, really.

Acting like Tax Borrow and Spend Liberals douchebags is what's killing the GOP.

FTFY.

When an ideology and industry fails to adapt to changing conditions, it must either change its ways or be sidelined.

Examples:

the Bush Administration
the US auto industry

I'm glad to see this happening actually.

NPR FTW

Medved in Gitmo would be cool. I wonder if they would pee on him like they do with Arabs. Hey, if some people can enjoy don't "drop the soap in jail" humor then I get to savor this fantasy.

Confabulat [TotalFark] 2008-12-04 10:20:33 PM
Why can't right-wing lunatics talk like adults? They act like schoolyard bullies, calling everyone who disagrees with them names instead of actually putting forth ideas and discussing current events like grown-ups.

Embarrassing way to pretend to hold political discourse.

Surely on some level they know they are embarrassing themselves.

And the people who listen to them? The worst sort of citizen.

Confabulat [TotalFark] 2008-12-04 10:22:36 PM
Yes, I know I could be called a hypocrite for calling them "right-wing lunatics" while accusing them of schoolyard name-calling.

But I'm just a guy online. They have millions of listeners on "Newsradio" stations.

Not the same thing.

And they definitely deserve it.

Depending on responses from leading conservative talkers, this rude, raucous indispensable medium will either rise to new heights of mainstream influence, profit and credibility, or else collapse as a declining vehicle for an increasingly angry and alienated fringe

Or maybe both

Don't you love how Christian Civilization is portrayed as a smoggy factory district with lots of broken windows on the warehouses?

Since there is not a "no-farking-shiat" tag, clearly "obvious" was the choice.

RemyDuron 2008-12-04 11:03:24 PM
He's dead on right though. Why the hell are they talking about purges when Republican ID is down and they lost the enthusiasm battle? They should be repairing the big tent, instead they're setting fire to it hoping to burn out the broken parts and leave the rest stronger. It's counter-intuitive to the point of seeming delusional.

WhackingDay 2008-12-04 11:05:00 PM
I've listened to both left and right talk radio and frankly, the level of discourse is appalling.

We're not even talking about lowest common denominator here, it's worse than that. Almost everyone calling in to these shows is a nutjob in some way. They against taxes, i.e. ALL TAXES, they believe in every and any conspiracy theory under the sun, they've read maybe one biased web site on a subject and suddenly they're experts in it.

Essentially, talk radio is serious business for idiots, but plain ol' entertainment for everyone else who can stomach it.

Excellent. The GOP should go even further to the Right. It will certainly bring more voters into the fold. Really.

Pretty much. I mean, I think there are a few smart people on left wing talk radio (Al Franken) but the format itself is just annoying and not fit to any kind of intelligent discourse.

You're absolutely right. The big government, big deficit moderates DID kill the GOP. And Reagan is the one that started it.

Only lunatics in tinfoil hats listen to talk radio. The rest of us turn on the radio to hear music.

RemyDuron 2008-12-04 11:10:30 PM
But, given the whole Osama/Obama thing, I feel honor bound to point out that his name is startlingly close to Russian President Medvedev. I feel we need to view his message very cautiously, as he is obviously a Russian stooge.

Yeah, but I'm not talking about the hosts, some of them aren't too bad.

I just can't take the callers. They're pathetic. I'd love to see some of the hosts just kick them off and call them the morons that they are.

Arnold T Pants 2008-12-04 11:12:39 PM
No, politicians that abandoned all conservative beliefs and the sheep the followed them killed the GOP.

Whats even more amazing is that the hosts really consider themselves intellectual, smart, fully versed members of the polity who are true experts in the field of policy and politics.

It's hilarious. Dennis Prager is the absolute most ridiculous.

I always listen to local AM radio whenever I go to a new area. It's a good way to assess the level of crazy I can expect to encounter.

Republicans never said no. They could have took a stand, at least every now and then and didn't. So they get what they deserve.

You don't think Bush spending was a concern?

It just ended up being a lesser of two evils for many Republicans.

Lionel Mandrake: "Obamatrons" and "Clintonistas"?

Grow the fk up, Mikey.

Never understood "Obamatron". "Clintonista" at least sounds like "Sandinista", a socialist Nicaraguan political party. It's a stupid portmandu, but it least it has a mild connection to what they're getting at.

What the hell is an "Obamatron"?

www.toysnjoys.com

Is it supposed to be machine-like? BEcause I gotta say, it's just escaping me.

And they were quite obviously very, very wrong about it being the "lesser" evil and they will take their lumps for it. There was never a serious movement in the party to disown Bush before 2008, and they will reap what they have sown in their support of him. This is just.

And their party will continue to suffer so long as "Gouging my eye out and selling my soul" is preferable to working with the opposition.

Of course it was. My point is that what Bush was/is has been painfully obvious for years. Any one who cared to look at Texas before and after would know that. I'm just looking forward to Republicans throwing him under the bus now.

Very possibly. You think they would have spent 700 billion on Iraq?

Meh...The nomination of RINO McCain was more than enough of a signal that the status quo was not going to continue in the Republican party.

Possibly...I mean, Kerry did vote for the war, and Gore was all for it from the wings (of course, under the guise of blue helmets...)

You mean with the additional support of the United Nations? Yeah, that would have been nice.
