FTA: "I said I would be happy to talk to Sarah Palin when the election was over... I went and tried to talk to Sarah Palin and instead she talked to Greta [Van Susteren]. She talked to Matt [Lauer]. She talked to Larry [King]. But she didn't talk to me. But maybe she'll talk to me now that she has a [multi-million dollar] book deal."

Good thing Gawker told me what type of book deal. It was way too ambiguous without the bracketed material.

So...hold on, hold on hold on...

The 2008 Republican VP nominee doesn't want to go onto the show of a woman who gave her first public political endorsement ever to the Democratic Presidential nominee?

Shocker.

Not the good kind, either.

Palin knows she's an idiot. That's why she fears any real questions. She's fine as long as she's center of attention and can ramble on, but ask her any question requiring the slightest bit of processing or association, and she's a giant Fail.

/not that good lucking up close either.... unless you're into the layers and layers of Max Factor clinging to the crows feet

Car_Ramrod 2008-12-04 08:12:05 PM
From a different article about this:

"There are not even words to talk about what this night means," Oprah said of Obama's inauguration. "Everybody keeps using the word historic - there's never been a night like this on the planet earth... Nothing can compare to this."

Sounds like big O's the one having a big O talking about the other big O.

Uh oh, Spaghetti-O's!

And though Palin may be dumb as a post, I think even she knows this. I also think she realizes that female interviewers nullify both her sexy flirtatiousness and fancy pageant-walkin' powers, as well as being insulated from being called sexist when Palin implodes before them.

I want her on TV. I never thought I'd see a gaffe machine so big you could combine the powers of Joe Biden, Dan Quayle, George W. Bush, Al Sharpton, and Bill O'Reilly into Gaffe-Tron and watch them be out-gaffed by one unqualified bint.

She is comedy gold.

If it stays like that, Sarah is gonna have her hands full keeping that approval rating up as the state is scrambling for funds.

And now I've got all this gas that I bought at 4 bucks a gallon sitting around my house. It was looking like such a great investment two months ago...

As for Sarah, if you watch the turkey slaughter interview, I think she talks about knowing that oil would bottom out. That must be why she slashed the Special Olympics budget and other things. The rest of the state government will grind to a halt, but the 3000 dollar checks will keep flowing.

Palin got better publicity on SNL than she would on Oprah, anyway. So unless Oprah is going to give her $150,000 in clothes or a new car, why bother?

Not in terms of their interview style, the questions they ask, or their reputation. Just the logic outlined by sarcastrophe struck me a similar.

Uh if Oprah says she doesn't eat meat the Cattlemen's Assoc. has to sue her b/c their profits go down. She makes James Frey into a best seller. She had her personal dog trainer on years ago saying "You shouldn't get a dog over 6 months of age b/c all of its behavior problems it has for life" and I almost go to jail due to my insistent and angry letter writing campaign. Oprah wields more media power than Rupert Murdoch.

I was more commenting on the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" mentality. She's an idiot, to be sure, but she can't win with either choice.

Ummm, yeah. That's sort of the main distinguishing characteristic of idiots. I would be more inclined to state it as "She's an idiot, to be sure, AND, consequently, she makes choices she can't win with". The "idiot" and "loser" thing are kind of a package deal.

RoxtarRyan [TotalFark] 2008-12-04 09:26:50 PM
She should go on, be interviewed, and have it shown to the world via Pay-Per-View, with the proceeds going to help us out in these tough economic times!

So long, economic crisis!

So then you feel the same way about Obama saying the problem with Washington is all the Washington insiders, followed by Obama appointing a bunch of Washington insiders. At the same time, he'd be called naive if he appointed a bunch of guys that were Washington outsiders.

If only an idiot would put themselves in such a situation, then you are calling Obama an idiot as well. The fact of the matter is that it's all partisan douchebags on both sides making these types of claims (in both situations) and those claims from either side have zero merit.

I was simply pointing out the hypocrisy of calling out Palin on this issue. The counter-arguments against such tactics can be found in any thread that has the words "obama," "appoint" and "change" in the headline.

Which would be fine if Oprah had any intention of helping Palin to sell books (which she doesn't) or intended to wage a negative campaign against Palin in absentia (she doesn't seem to want to do that either). Since it will neither help to go on the show nor hurt to avoid it, why give a potential ratings boost to someone who is going to support your political enemies?

Besides, if Palin wants to shed her image as a political lightweight, she needs to get schooled up and do interviews on 60 Minutes or something similar.
