Never much of a music person, but the friends dragged me to his concert this year, the hometown concert for Kid Rock at Pine Knob. It was awesome. ( and it poured most of the night.)

Got to stick up for Kid Rock - truly a cool guy. Very charitable, a ton of fun and as "real" as any big time celebrity I've ever met. It ain't an act - he basically just loves drinking crappy beer and hanging with strippers.

Exactly, a great parade to miss if you enjoy not having nice beads. Unlike every other Krewe, we actually throw shiat, and nice shiat, too. But that's OK. You can tell the tens of thousands that CAMP OUT TO RESERVE THEIR SPOT or build home made bleachers for their dozens of guests out by City Park that they should miss Endymion every year.

Genevieve, it would mark every year I've been in the Krewe having a crappy grand marshal (this is my 8th ride)... but do I care? No. Should you? No. The parade isn't about the farking grand marshal, and you should know that. Yeah, the Extravaganza was a bit lame last year until they finally pulled Costner and his wailing off the stage... but 95% of the people who watch the parade don't go to the Extravaganza. And when the Go Gos hit their first note after Costner was almost booed off stage, the place erupted (in a good way).

In addition to being hot, Genevieve is right though... our grand marshals have sucked. I have put up with George Costanza, Marissa Tomei (she wasn't too bad, actually...she had fun riding on a float), Jim Belushi/Dan Aykroyd, Nick Carter, Kevin Costner, Leann Rimes, and for some stupid reason, Taylor Hicks.

People don't come to the parades to see a grand marshal... they come to see beads and foobies!

You know, I've always been kind of indifferent about Kid Rock (except for acting... he really sucked at that, Torque I think?). I went to a Metallica concert back in 2000 and he opened up for them, and I was absolutely blown away about how good he was at playing practically every instrument. I just had no idea, because it's not so obvious in his albums/songs. I had much more respect musically for him after that. I still won't go out and buy his albums, but I'll toss respect where it's due.

I don't know why there's such a hate cloud that follows the guy, but there's definitely much more worse people where the energy could be expended.
