That's pretty cool actually.

Deserves the Hero tag IMHO.

As opposed to Fitzgerald's Irish-themed casino in Reno, which looks like it was designed by the Lucky Charms leprechaun on DMT.

That's bullshiat, subby.

"Las Vegas on acid" is redundant.

meh...

I can think of better ways to spend that kind of cash.

spend it on cups and cakes.

It is impressive what bad taste can accomplish with some serious cash in hand.

I don't think he's committed any sin except going to so much expense to create something ugly instead of illuminating:

images.dailyexpress.co.uk

That took 14 years, eh? It looks it. I wonder what he would have come up with if he had all that money at one time to spend? When you accumulate things over years, you fall in love with items and make them fit. But if he'd spent all that money at once.... I don't know.

Looks like its missing the stupid inflatable Santa on a Harley, jumping inflated penguins and snowmen to deliver the gifts of the Magi to the creche. Why do farks like this decorate their homes to look like Area 51? Not being grinchy, really, just against bad taste.

Actually it said his avg yearly bill was 700 pounds, twice as much as his neighbors. That would be about what $450 or so a year for the average brit? I spend that in a month in Texas. Bummer.

TFA: While many households are feeling the pinch,

I farking hate this line... they might as well have said 'While many African children are starving'

I realise that the world's economy is a wee bit shaky right now, but there have been "many households feeling the pinch" since there were households around to farking feel it.

This tabloid creation, the 'credit crunch', is little more than scaremongering and is actually detrimental to the economy - making a bad situation ultra mega super cataclysmic.

Isay good farking luck to the dude and to his neighbours who feel the need to put up competing displays (as long as they don't put it on plastic)

Mmm, yes, can we all just take a moment and recognize that this was one of them limejuicers and not an American? Just to forestall the standard snarking about trailers and colored necks from the self-loathing AmeriKKKans?

FTA Alex uses the display to raise money for charity. Donations from visitors have put more than £2,000 into the coffers of a local hospice which looked after his mother before she died two years ago.

Wouldn't he have been more help if he just donated half the money he spent on this instead of collecting 1/15th of what he spent?

Considering TFA is about something visual, is it too much to ask for a link to a larger picture, much less more than a single thumbnail picture?

Is it worth the drive down from Chippenham?
