(Contact Music) Dumbass Judge rules that Kid Rock will have to do actual community work, and not go on a trip to Iraq and play a few gigs for free. Kid Rock is pissed and indignant, troops relieved   (contactmusic.com) divider line 19

He needs to shut his whore mouth on this one. No one is stopping him from performing for the troops, if he so desires. It just won't count for his community service.

I'm an environmental engineer by trade. If I get a DUI, is it ok if I count my 9-5, since it will benefit everyone?

Disclaimer: yes, I'm a fan of Bob Ritchie's music, even the cheesy Werewolves of London/Sweet Home puree...

Haven't the troops suffered enough??

Give him an iron rake and have him hunt for IEDs.

As someone from Flint, let me apologize to the world, on behalf of Detroit, for letting this douche bag ever be heard of, let alone newsworthy.....

From the Douche: "Apparently he thinks it's more important that I do something else rather than sing, shake hands, take pictures and spend time with the men and women who put themselves in harm's way to protect the very freedoms he and all of us live by. I really take it as a slap in the face."

Oh, shut the hell up, you pussy. You don't get to fall back on the too-convenient "B-b-b-b-b-but the TROOPS!" argument. Playing gigs is NOT punishment for anyone but the audience.

"Giving him credit for something he would otherwise love to do in front of a camera completely defeats the punitive purpose of performing community service."

Exactly. Finally...A judge who gets it.

The thing about Mr Rock is, underneath the ludicrous ego, the insecure peacocking and the vulgar displays of wealth is that he is, I suspect, a bit of a penis.

Wow...I didnt know everyone on Fark new Mr. Ritchie personally. I'm going to have to find out where you sign up to meet him!

Finally some justice for ripping off Warren Zevon, and those other guys.

DubyaHater 2008-12-03 08:46:12 AM
Oh judge, can I perform my "community service" by playing my shiatty music in a USO show and try to sell more albums? That sounds fair right? Make money on community service?

After that, he should be forced to mow lawns for Warren Zevon's family members. After that, he should be forced to wash cars for Ronnie Van Zant's family members. After that, he should go to Iraq like he so desperately wants to do and tell all of the troops that he is not above doing his civic duty.

Would the defendant rise and state his name.

Would the defendant rise and state his real name, and if he yells again he will be held in contempt.

Let's compromise.

Stick him in a set of fatigues and let him do a few sweep & clear missions. Let's see how committed to this "supporting the troops" concept he really is.

In other news, "Private Rock" strikes me as f'in hilarious, for no reason that I can discern. Only God knows why.

So, speaking as somebody that's actually SEEN him go to the Middle East, he much less any USO show is a welcome sight.

/Brittany Murphy on stage singing a duet with him in next to nothing didn't hurt
//Neither did Alyssa Milano in a flightsuit
///Or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders

He's actually due to come through Europe and the Middle East sometime in the next week or two. He's stopping at Ramstein to perform a next-to-no-notice concert on his way there. As a servicemember stationed in Germany, I plan on trying to go see him perform. I know he's come through at least 2 or 3 times since 9-11 to play for the troops and from people who met him at those concerts, he's been really cool.

I understand why some of you who have never been in the military overseas might think he's a douche. However, how many of your favorite, never-dickish, super artistic, genius musicians have volunteered to take their time to entertain the men and women on the front lines? Say what you will about Kid Rock, but the majority of the other musicians love to brag from the US about how much they support the troops but none would ever think about getting on a plane and playing for free in front of a military crowd down range.

I agree with tekumel, when you're there you are happy for anyone who comes out to take your mind off of things. You also gain a new found respect for the artists who agree to come out, no matter how big of a douche you thought they were before.

/not going just for Kid Rock
//Kellie Pickler and Lewis Black will be there too
///I'd Pickl-er
