Maybe they'll come out with a new album. In 2019.

He really needs to let this go.

It's as if Lars Ulrich and Axl Rose are trying to have a "Who's douchier" contest.

Can Steven Adler still play drums? He had a pretty severe stroke.

echoshizzle 2008-12-02 06:21:31 PM
Axl would probably be the last person who wants this.

I could care-less. Chinese Democracy is a great album and if the other tracks rumored about for years are as good as people said they were (and not tracks on CD) then I think Axl is fine by himself.

Seriously a reunion MIGHT happen for a tour, but an album? I don't think everyones Ego can handle their different approaches to music. Axl would probably be finished after one session in the studio, if he made it to that.

Courtney Cox-Zucker [TotalFark] 2008-12-02 06:25:48 PM
Bosses at label Geffen are blaming Rose for the disappointing sales of Chinese Democracy - which took 15 years to make and cost at least $30 million - after vanished and refused to promote it.

Yeah, it was poorly promoted. I didn't hear anything about this being released. Was there a story about this somewhere?

NorCalLos 2008-12-02 06:28:07 PM
I figured this might happen once Axl proved he could make an album with his vision and without the old band, but I didn't imagine it would be quite so soon. If Steven Adler is able to do it, I'm excited. With Matt Sorum I don't care as much, though the idea of Izzy and Axl together is enticing.

Derwood 2008-12-02 06:35:03 PM
Sounds like he's trying to pull a Roger Waters:

Hey guys, yeah, sorry for being a megolomaniacal douchenozzle for the past 15 years, but I'm good now, so let's get back together, yeah?

Dee Snarl 2008-12-02 06:41:25 PM
Steven Adler LOL. Him and Rick Allen should have a gimp-off....

Haha, my second greenlight.

And this is from a link posted on Something Awful forums.

Farkers are slipping.

But yeah, I'm not sure I see this happening.

I'm fairly certain that Slash just made a ton of money for his likeness being used in Guitar Hero 3 last year...Why would Slash go back to Axl? Axl is a prick.

Faux Shizzle 2008-12-02 08:56:05 PM
Guns N' Roses reunion? Yeah, right. That has as much of a chance as Chinese Democracy being released this decade...

Oh, wait...

Rev.K: It's as if Lars Ulrich and Axl Rose are trying to have a "Who's douchier" contest.

Please explain how this specific action, that is to say the action of trying to get the band back together, is douche-worthy.

Axl may be an ass in many other regards, but I don't see how trying to rebuilt burned bridges would fall into this category.

but why exactly did it take 15 years to record this record?

FTFA:

"Bosses at label Geffen are blaming Rose for the disappointing sales of Chinese Democracy - which took 15 years to make and cost at least $30 million - after vanished and refused to promote it."

OK, first they omit a pronoun there. Next, why did they use dashes? Commas would have been fine. And the "Bosses at label Geffen", they for a definite article. That sentence sucks ass.

Is this proper Aussie English? I doubt it. The author gets an "F" for fark YOU and FAIL.

"Bosses at the label Geffen are blaming Rose for the disappointing sales of Chinese Democracy, which took 15 years to make and cost at least $30 million, after he vanished and refused to promote it."

Alternatively, we could cross out "label" and just say Geffen. I'm pretty sure people who know a god damn thing about GNR know that Geffen is a record label.

DreamBrother 2008-12-02 11:01:46 PM
I'd pay just to see the original crew (minus Adler) burn through It's So Easy with it's kickass buildup that finally smashes you square in the face with a wrecking ball. So nasty. Best GNR song ever.

Actually, he was right the first time. He felt the need to respond, so he could, if fact, care less.

I would pay to see this, only with Izzy though

Nemo's Brother 2008-12-03 12:35:26 AM
I really like Chinese Democracy. It gets better after a few listens. The last Velvet Revolver sucked as. Maybe a reunion will occur. I wouldn't hold your breath on Adler though.

xdedd 2008-12-03 01:01:18 AM
I saw GNR in concert about 5 times back in the day. They were seriously farking awesome, but I'm telling you the OG 5 members will not get back together until they get inducted into the Rock & Roll HOF.

Adler is a farking wreck. Have you guys even seen the latest Celebrity Rehab? He's REALLY farked up. He could MAYBE play 3 songs but there's no way he could record an album let alone play a 2 1/2 hour set and go on tour.

xdedd 2008-12-03 01:03:00 AM
Oh and Izzy kicks all kinds of ass. He was easily the most talented one in the group next to Slash.

I saw the original line up back in 87, and I was thoroughly disappointed and disillusioned at how bad they were, Axl & Slash were obviously whacked on drugs & booze. Duff, Steven and Izzy were desperately trying to hold it together. Just a total train wreck, and I quit listening to them afterward because I couldn't support a band that was that bad live.

Steve sober? In 87? Doubtful, was probably just coke.

I heard Adler is doing find after his stroke and that the Steven Adler band is even doing some small gigs.

I think a reunion is the only hope for the GNR name (& Axl) to stay alive.

You heard wrong. Adler is a total mess and can barely speak a coherent sentence. I seriously doubt he's in any shape to play the drums on a world your.

ZigThis 2008-12-03 09:39:33 AM
A reunion tour or album would be the 'Use Your Illusion' lineup, with Matt on drums and Dizzy Reed included as well. They might let Adler guest on some songs and play at their Hall of Fame gig, but not an entire tour or album - he just physically can't handle it, and Matt is just a much part of the gang. I don't think anyone would care either. Most nitwits and casual fans just want to see Axl and Slash together, and those with deeper interest know that Izzy and Duff are required and find Matt and Dizzy more than acceptable.

Just remember I called it here years ago...

Thank God somebody finally said it. It seems everybody has their own interpretation of what's "original" with this band. (I especially love the people who biatch about the "grandiosity" of Use Your Illusion destroying what the band had established with Appetite for Destruction, when the key songs they cite, like "November Rain," were among some of the first the band ever recorded demos for in 1986.)

It's scary that when Axl dies or goes broke they could probably release an entire box set of just alternate tracks from the album.

/Still haven't heard it yet.
/maybe ask for it for Christmas.

Either:

a) I'm trying to be hip and old school

or

b) The definition of "comeback" is a hero's return to glory from a state in which it was thought impossible or extremely unlikely. Adler would be both a key piece in returning to the best incarnation of the band, and integral to making the reunion/comeback as dramatic as possible. Also, Sorum's drumming is lackluster and uninspired, his tone sucks (overproduced/too much reverb/compression/chorus effect on the toms), and he makes faces like he's executing something really complex while playing extremely simple fills. One of the big differences between Appetite and Use Your Illusions is that UYI rarely clicked on all cylinders. When it did (You Could Be Mine, Civil War) it was great. GNR was what they were because they clicked and complimented each other perfectly. I don't think they ever achieved that magic with Sore-Arm.

While Steven's stroke was obviously damaging, his bigger problem might be his drug addiction. He doesn't speak very clearly, but motor skills come back when you stop doing drugs. I hear from other farkers that he's playing shows, so he apparently is playing drums at some level. I believe that people who play music their entire lives are able to pick it back up after a long time off--possibly even after stroke, with some physical therapy. If Travis Barker can come back after a plane crash and Nikki Sixx or Tommy Lee after "dying," why not Adler after a drug induced stroke?

Crude 2008-12-03 11:58:51 AM
There is NO WAY that the other 3 or 4 former members could be stupid enough to fall for Axl's shiat. Right??

Hopefully, Axl has burned too many bridges with his obnoxious behavior and refusal to do little important things like, 'arrive at the concerts on time.'

It's been happening a lot at recent concerts. He played several dates with Guns in 2006.
