You got what you deserved if you attended one of her shows.

Look - you've got two choices:
1) Singers who stand in one place behind a microphone stand warbling as best they can to try to even come close to what the studio sound was like, but comes out sounding nothing like what you heard on the radio or your iPod and what you wanted to hear.
or
2) Singers can prance around putting on a show while the sound is like the sound you hear on the radio or your iPod and what you want to hear.

You may only choose one.

/it is for this reason that live shows suck ass!

It's a good thing I listen to musicians that posess...you know...talent.

If a band can't perform at least as well live as on their albums I don't listen to them. Audio editing is no substitute for talent.

A touch of "THIS!"

I can listen to studio artists, but that's in the form of mp3's on my way to or from work, or while working out.

I still tend to prefer artists who can actually perform live, because a great live event is one hell of a drug!

Saw it Saturday. Yes, she was quite obviously miming. Because- SHOCK HORROR- she's NOT THAT GOOD A SINGER.

So what? Like anybody was really watching the performance thinking "Oh I can't wait to hear Britney's dulcet tones again" anyway.

This is an example of musicians with talent playing live. A studio recording may be cleaner and technically "better" but I defy anyone to say a live preformance like this doesn't have something you can't capture in a studio.

Simon: I'm not going to patronise you, Britney, but I've seen better pub singers in the bars of Tenerife than you. What were you thinking? If the public don't vote you out tonight, I'll be very surprised. Awful. Just awful. Completely the wrong song choice, sloppy dancing, and the vocals were all wrong. Pathetic.

Cheryl: I liked it, pet. Simon, you're out of order. Why can't you be nice for a change, pet? She did reeeally well after her troubles and to mime isn't a big deal. I should know, pet.

Danii: I'm with Cheryl. Great dancing and vocal range. I don't think she mimed at all, though. It was her faulty mic. Britney's back....you go, girl!

Louis: I was pleasantly surprised it was her own hair. Still a biatchubby round the arse and hips but she did well. Not as good as Westlife, but she tried, and you have to give credit for that, Simon. I think you're just jealous.

Simon: Are you mental? Have your senses left you?

Louis: Simon, simon, I'm not going to argue. Go wax your chest. Britney is back, she's here, she's queer, live with it.

*wild applause*

Simon: Pathetic.

Poor live performances kind of ruin a band for me. I wouldn't want to go to a concert to listen/watch a person lip synch, moreso not at the price of a Spears ticket.

Useless side story: I was introduced to two "local" bands not too long ago. One of them was decent, the other was "holy shiat this is awesome". Saw them both live and the decent band turned out to be amazing live. Conversely the awesome band turned out to be really mediocre live. Since then I seem to be straying more from one to the other.

No, this is the realization that you listen to shiatty musicians. Most of the live performances I've seen have been wonderful. There are always exceptions but good musicians can do it live. They don't use the studio to hide inadequacies, they use it to enhance what's already awesome.

Was at the release party of a band consisting of friends and acquaintances, which was farking great, some of the best rock I'd heard since 2000 or so, inspired by people like Chris Cornell, Metallica, Pantera and so on. I was on farking clouds after that concert, got a free copy of the CD from my friend in the band, got home, put it in the CD-player, turned the volume to "Who need eardrums anyway?" and was sorely disappointed to find out that the CD sucked donkey's balls, and was more Soundgardenish radio-rock without the greatness of Soundgarden.

Still love to see the guys live whenever I can, but still highly dubious of their CDs.

Radiohead is another band that sounds fantastic live. I was fortunate to see them earlier this year.

Here is a perfect example.

Britney is fascinating to watch, but I wouldn't buy an album or go to one of her shows.

TimeWaste 2008-12-01 12:25:28 PM
Most bands I listen to I judge on their live performances. I can't stand listening to something I know can't be emulated outside of a studio. Not to sound pretentious, but is it a musician thing?

And I know if I mentioned Dave Matthews Band I'll get slaughtered, but whatever, I stand by love for them, and my preference over their live stuff than the studio stuff.

Kliffoth: Here's a bleach douche to get some sand out of yourself, you vagina.

I'm sorry about this part of my post. It was really insensative of me and I apologize. Vaginas are very beautiful things (most the time) and it was COMPLETELY wrong of me to compare LowbrowDeluxe to such a wonderful thing.

What I meant to say was 'Infected Scrotum'.... I think we can all agree nobody likes those.

I don't think my taste in music makes me better than everyone else. I DO believe there are ACTUAL musicians out there and there are HACKS out there that can't play a decent live show if their lives depended on it. A band that can't replicate their studio albums to a resonable degree is a farking Hack band. They were essentially created in a sound studio.

-Bands that can't perform live suck... purely and utterly. Sorry.

-There are MANY true artists that are great in the studio and excellent live. Many of these bands are bands whos music I don't particularly care for. While I don't care for the music much I respect their artistry.

-I don't believe my taste in music makes me better than anyone else. I do think that the music I listen to is better than any studio Hack crap you like, simply because the musicians I listen to are artists with talent who can...you know... PLAY.

Deal with it.
