Seriously, the guy hasn't served a day yet. Any shot the freeper subbies could... maybe SHUT THE FARK UP AND EAT A BOWL OF DICKS WHILE DROWNING IN A POOL OF VOMIT?!

Ya. That's what it is.

No... he isn't like Bush... Their similarities end at both of them having run for President of the United States. We can't even look further into it since Obama hasn't served as President yet.

How about (6): "Obama wants experienced, competent people helping run the country, and has already confirmed with them that they agree with the relevant portions of his agenda"

acanuck [TotalFark] 2008-11-30 04:14:49 PM
ftfa; [the successes of...]"his policies that included prescription drugs, No Child Left Behind, AIDs relief in Africa, the removal of two odious regimes, and consensual governments in their places, a framework at home to stop 9/11-type terrorism"

prescription drugs and Aids for Africa were two policies to steer treasury money right into the hands of big pharma, who would not have had these growth markets (seniors and Africans would forego purchasing these out of lack of means) had it not been for Bush's "conservative" agenda

only odious to Israel - it's just now that we have $2/gal gas again

a framework to stop terrorists of domestic origins - at airports, it's disgruntled-looking whitey (and their three year old) that gets pulled aside and searched

Bush was a total farkup - ANYONE could do better and right now, having relevant and demonstrated experience, irrespective of background, is what needs to get us on track ECONOMICALLY before the Chinese completely eat our lunch

acanuck [TotalFark] 2008-11-30 04:16:37 PM
..oops I forgot No Child's Left Behind....a scheme to reduce funding to education and is apparently working as more and more schools lose federal funds

I just keep thinking there's a train wreck coming.

Keep your eyes peeled, and warn the rest of us when you see it coming. For a better vantage point, you can climb up pretty high on the wreck of the train we have been in for the last eight years.

Seriously these articles' tenuous grasp of logic (jk it's not there lol) is becoming such a problem that it's making their basic ability to form sentences almost nonexistent.

What is most remarkable about his appointees is that they are competent, not that they are centrist.

I expect Obama to be pretty left-wing by American standards. Not so much in what he does, but in what he stops doing. He has said it often enough.

Thanks Bush your vision will be used by Chairman Obama for years to come.

You changed two countries, see if Chairman Obama can do better, or as we all are expecting, the 2 am phone call, to the most unqualified person as President, will...... be the number one reason it is a short 4 year Jimmy Carter II presidency.

By virtue of the right purging the ideologically impure, yeah.
The Realist wing of the GOP (Scowcroft, Powell, Gates, Hagel, etc.) has been completely absorbed by the Obama administration.

The only foreign policy types left in the GOP are the neocons.

For the next 4-8 years, a liberal, black, well-educated, first generation American, Democrat will be president of this country.

And there's not a damn thing you can do about it.

WillyShwonka 2008-11-30 06:01:04 PM

Note that the most obvious and embarrassing explanation is taboo and blasphemous: That Obama is a masterful politician who never has had any real ideology or persona other than his own diversity story and history, youth, and charisma that together allow him to be whatever is politically expedient at the time.

I've heard this characterization of Obama so many times from a lot of right wing columnists. If he has no ideology or persona, why is he running for president? He's pretty clearly been working toward something. Can you name me any significant thing he's done that doesn't seem like it's been very thoroughly planned? Unlike Bush, he's completely in control. That's what I want, and what the country needs.

kevorting 2008-11-30 06:12:33 PM
Wow. TFA is a big steaming heap of wishful thinking. Delusional, too. Hansen thinks he can read Obama's mind and ferret out his deepest secrets. Must be the tinfoil hat.

This is one I love the most, Obama's stance on Iran. What is so funny is that this is EXACTLY the diplomatic path taken by Bush (without the precondition part). The economic incentives, ALREADY DONE, WTO membership offer...DONE, diplomatic isolation...DONE. It seems as though Obama plans to reinvent the wheel.

From the web:
Diplomacy: Obama supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions. Now is the time to pressure Iran directly to change their troubling behavior. Obama and Biden would offer the Iranian regime a choice. If Iran abandons its nuclear program and support for terrorism, we will offer incentives like membership in the World Trade Organization, economic investments, and a move toward normal diplomatic relations. If Iran continues its troubling behavior, we will step up our economic pressure and political isolation. Seeking this kind of comprehensive settlement with Iran is our best way to make progress.
