This in particular is extremely rich: FTFA, It was his calculations that showed that Stonehenge was aligned, not with the sun's rising at midsummer as hippies and druids imagine, but with its setting at midwinter.

Duh? This required calculations?

All they had to do was ask a druid hippy.

Yes because we can f*ck up the planet as much as want as long as the economy keeps going strong.

The economy is what sustains us, not the oxygen, food and water that we get/harvest from our environment.

I'm sick of this kind of thinking.

If it makes you feel any better we're not polluting local water tables. all our more toxic manufacturing is done in places like china and india.

That's sad.

I'd love to do something about it, but I'm too busy fighting against wind turbines that the power company wants to put up 2 miles out in the lake because they'll ruin my view and decrease my property value. (this is actually going on right now in Toronto)

Can't they just build another coal plant in some poor town?

Well they certainly aren't starting on the "concerned with the facts" thing here, not when it says "Each of these four statements is so wildly at odds with the truth" followed by four supposed rebuttals that are... well, wildly at odds with the truth.

You should seek guidance from Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-ying). He has experience blocking wind farms in his own backyard.

The Brits have a coal plant that puts out more than 21 GW?

Right?

Really? We're still publishing people who don't think climate change is occurring?
Look, conservatives. You will not win battles by putting your fingers in your ears. At some point you have to say - OK, climate change is happening, and here's a conservative agenda to address it.

WillyShwonka 2008-11-30 06:08:02 PM
we can only deduce from this that Mr Obama has believed all he was told by Al Gore's wondrously batty film An Inconvenient Truth without bothering to check the facts.

Yes. Al Gore's movie is the only thing that's asserting global warming.

Their own rhetoric and fake idealism has completely paralyzed them.

Heh.

I'd rather see the economy and the capitalist system take a hit than for the natural environment of our planet to worsen. Seriously. Quality of life isn't made up solely of how much sh*t you've collected. There's something to be said for air & water quality. There's something to be said for being able to live your life without turning someone a profit.

There's something to be said for being able to look up at the night sky and see the stars as our ancestors did.

DeRosso: I'll just leave these here

Your own charts show temperature decreasing in the past couple of years. Effect without cause isn't science, it is just stupidity.

Even if we do not question the accuracy of our estimates of global temperatures into previous centuries, and even if we ignore the falling global temperatures over the past decade as fossil-fuel emissions have continued to increase, an honest scientist would still have to admit that the hypothesis of man-made global warming hardly rises to the level of "an assertion of what has been or would be the result of carrying out a specified observational procedure."

What Would Whoopty Do [TotalFark] 2008-11-30 06:23:38 PM
The author of the article thinks that asbestos is chemically identical to talcum powder, and that the risk of contracting mesothelioma from white asbestos cement was "insignificant", while that of lung cancer was "zero". Plus, he's a global warming denier. So it doesn't surprise me that he'd rather have Palin as our commander in chief.

Experts KNOW what they're doing!

The current stability of the world's financial base is proof enough of that!
