Too skinny being a turn-off doesn't translate into being a lardass being a turn-on. Hope that clears up the confusion.

/no, miss england is not fat at all
//i would hit it like ze germans hit london

Where the hell did this idea come from that being a skeleton with skin is the ultimate ideal? How in the hell can this woman be classified as "chunky"? All I see is natural curves. Add 30 more pounds on that and we can start talking chunky.

ne2d [TotalFark] 2008-11-29 03:47:00 PM
The fact that fashion models are skinny has nothing to do with being a turn-on or promoting a particular body image, and everything to do with it being much easier to make a size 1 outfit than a size 8 outfit, especially when the outfit then has to look good hanging on a hanger when they show it to buyers.

timmy_the_tooth [TotalFark] 2008-11-29 03:48:19 PM
She's not fat but she does look like a complete skank.

/which is a bonus.

Alacritous [TotalFark] 2008-11-29 04:07:22 PM
I would hit that girl, and then use the models to pick my teeth.

Yeah, I agree.

Runway models are coathooks and clothes hangers, not people. Their goal is to make you look at the clothes. This woman wouldn't work as a runway model because there are too many interesting curves on her: you see her first, not the clothes.

Now, as a lingerie model she'd probably be just fine, because that market is all about confusing the allure of the model with the magic of the product.

GAT_00 [TotalFark] 2008-11-29 05:11:35 PM
Yeah, that's healthy and nowhere near chunky. And no sane man would kick her out of bed.

What a fatass.

This monkey would get funky with that chunky.

She's welcome to come over and be chunky at my place whenever she wants.

She is fat?

It looks to me like she is just soft and curvy. I really wish the fashion industry would promote reality a little more. That girl is very pretty and doesn't deserve the criticism that she is getting.

DrMcNinja 2008-11-29 06:58:34 PM
She's got a gut. Deal with it.

I'm not so sure "that" is really after the weight she put on.

A pageant queen does not a model make. The two are like night and day.

I lost interest before learning which chick one - or I forgot the chunky chick won.

I think she's got a bad attitude, she's not just chunky. Also, no one makes runway clothes in a size 14 or whatever she is, American sizing.

I know more than you 2008-11-29 07:01:18 PM
Subby, that's because all men in the fashion industry are gay. They are not aware of how an attractive female is supposed to look like.

Even so, a size 10 (and that's European sizing, which runs smaller than our lard-ass American sizes) isn't anywhere even in the vicinity of overweight, unless she's a freakin' Munchkin.

Apparently someone needs to tell Miss England that white girls with big asses is in now.

Poppa Boner [TotalFark] 2008-11-29 07:02:33 PM
She doesn't look too chunky to me and that extra wide anus in the middle of her stomach is HOT!

susansto-helit [TotalFark] 2008-11-29 07:03:02 PM
I understand that runway models are simply attractive clothes hangers and therefore tend to be gaunt and on the verge of death (not that I like this fact), but there are other kinds of modeling out there. She'd be perfect for print. The camera loves her and stick figures in general don't translate as well to print.

And if that is "too chunky" then I'm Elizabeth I.

It's true that a lot of designers are men, but Twiggy is what got the trend started with the ultra thin models.

Smokin' hot.

RemyDuron 2008-11-29 07:03:57 PM
Wow, from that angle at least she's not even in the "large model" category IMO.

Normally I am a defender of the whole super skinny model thing, as that's one of my turn ons, but this girl isn't chunky at all.

Why the hell do gay men get to decide what a beautiful woman should look like?

The problem is that there isn't a lot of money to be made in commercial modeling unless you are in the correct market and have a good agent and/or know several good photographers.

No, she looks human again. But unfortunately it started a trend that has pretty much dominated the industry, or at least editorial modeling anyway.

Well, I don't know what kind of foot in the door a beauty pageant could give her, so I'll give you that (I was an actor, not a model). But I've known models that make a decent living in commercial modeling. At least one I know made pretty decent scratch as a model in one of those annoying Gap ads.

It's not as glamorous as runway modeling, but it's decent.

She ain't fat.
She's quite good looking (for a blonde).
But that navel... *shudder*

It actually amazes me that it caught on as thoroughly as it has. I think designers just got lazy. They just can't be arsed to try to fit a model that has anything resembling hips.

Iron Chef Scottish 2008-11-29 07:13:57 PM
I'd put my 'penis' in her 'vagina' if you know what I mean, *wink wink*.

Chaoticmass 2008-11-29 07:14:28 PM
Insanely skinny waifs are used in fashion because they exemplify what the average consumer isn't. They are supposed to make the consumer feel unsatisfied with themselves, and make them unconciously think that buying the product will make them feel better.

The unattainable body image will always be the one used in advertising.

Modeling isn't about the ideal female, it's about an image, and the industry wants skinny (disgustingly skinny) women.
The ironic thing is that women who biatch about these unhealthy women also go out and purchase Vogue, watch America's next top model etc. Have a problem with the industry? Don't support it.
Miss England is gorgeous, but she doesn't have the right build to be a fashion model.
Get over it.

That's why I said you had to be in the correct market or have some connections. There is money to be had out there, but if you don't have a good way in, then it's a pretty tough pursuit.
