I'm not sure if this is the right time for me to come out with this, but here goes...

I think I might like Coldplay. I've known it for years. I would look around at other bands and think "man, that band sounds great," but everyone else around me was liking different bands. I was confused for a while until I got singled out for being different, then I was angry and I hid my tastes. I was ashamed. But now I'm strong. Today is the day. I like Coldplay.

Actually he died outside while leaving the concert and it sounds as if Darwin may have played a role.

He jumped this wall, apparently thinking the ground you see to the right continued in between the two low walls.

Instead, it was 30 feet down to the storm channel/bike bath. It was dark - he couldn't see the similar layout in the distance.

Look before you leap, etc.

submitter: Man at Coldplay concert dies of something besides embarrassment

He died AT a concert trying to jump across a 10-foot gap that separates the westbound and eastbound lanes of traffic?

That must have been some venue.

I asked my daughter what she wanted for her 16th birthday a few years ago.... yep... take me to see Coldplay. One of the best live bands I have ever seen; not as good as Pink Floyd or Genesis, but definitely top 10.

I cam here to make a snarky comment, but judging from that pic, that seems like a reasonable conclusion to come to. It seems like something I'd do.

/assuming there were no or very few cars zooming past. If so... yeah, not so much.

Except they don't sound at all like U2.

Just like they didn't sound at all like Radiohead.

But since we all know that you don't get your internet cool card until you snark about Coldplay 25 times, I forgive your lame effort.

Coldplay is nothing but media hype. They are little more than a U2 cover band with the push of the label and the radio stations. I think it is because Gwenyth Paltrow is married to their front man.

102 in Richmond, Virgina didn't even bother trying to hide the fact that payola was involved and I'm sure it was this way all over the country, when their last album came out.

If you like them, you are the type that is easily swayed by marketing. Keep on shopping, mindless consumer.

Coldplay isn't nearly as bad as they're made out to be (though I'll never forgive them for Yellow), but they are pretty damn generic.

I don't think it was too hard for that "Clocks" song to get stuck in your head, too, Mr. man. But you go right on ahead to the front of the class, I can certainly see that you have it figured out and that you're going places!

a buddy of mine went to a coldplay concert with his then girlfriend a few years back, and i couldn't stop texting him, giving him shiat about being a fag for being there, and that that's why she has gay guy friends. he said the music was as expected, lame ball-less british pop rock, but the light show was cool.

he went prepared.

jrfaulkin 2008-11-29 01:02:22 PM
Coldplay is to U2 as Oasis is to the Beatles: weak knockoffs with a desperate money-hoarding label behind them.

Fark you, trendy opinionites.

I like what I like, not what I'm "supposed" to like to be cool, and I like Coldplay. I also like Radiohead, Beck and the Flaming Lips among others, so what of it? There's no law that says taste in music must be applied by peer pressure, even on Fark.

/groups like Nickelback and Creed CAN suck it though -- MHO

Look. Not only is Chris Martin a much better singer than Bono, Coldplay also write way better songs than U2.

Except for "Yellow" and "In My Place", which were terrible.

FARK should create a filter that forces you to post a list of your top 5 favorite bands whenever you use the word "suck" or "ripoff" in a music-tab thread.
