I believe that the crazy, skanky, poor-white-trash image that people have foisted on to Britney Spears is a product mostly of the tabloid industry and a justice system willing to buy into paparazzi claims. Granted she asked for this attention and put herself out there, but most of the stuff you see - letting her kid ride on her lap, acting insane while she's swarmed with photographers, not wearing panties for a night on the town - is stuff that (I'd guess) a lot of women her age would do in that situation, women who are generally regarded by their communities as sane and fit mothers.
