Calgary's "Legendary Few" did the most kick ass version of the song. Ever.

/super duper obscure, any old Calgary farkers out there got a copy I'd kill for an MP3? 6 pack of Trad Ale (or equal) if ya can help.

I may not "love" much of their other stuff, but they will remain respected by me for their old hit " the old apartment". Most people that slag barenaked ladies aren't aware of this song or that BNL was behind it, so they likely think that the band is nothing more than a mix of Ben Folds and Weird Al.

Their music is harmless, they're nice guys, they don't take themselves seriously, and their live shows are terrific. Plus, once Ed Robertson called in to a radio show karaoke contest and belted out some Bon Jovi just for the hell of it. He had his daughters in the car with him when he called, and it was a blast. How can you not love them?

I'll second that pick for a great BNL song.

I think I have their yellow tape somewhere so I'm one of those people who remembers them playing as a kid, but I'll give them props for being fairly good folks and doing the near-impossible of being able to stray somewhat from what was seen as novelty roots.

/and yes, "one week" sucks donkey balls, but I guess that's what was needed to hit it big in the US

Another highly overlooked and terrific Canadian performer: Doug Bennett (RIP)
