At the end of a presidency of stupefying ineptitude, [Bush] has become the lamest of all possible ducks. (See TIME's best pictures of Barack Obama.)

Hahaha, nice placement there.

but that was neutered in my memory by his ridiculous, preening appearance in a flight suit on the deck of the aircraft carrier beneath the "Mission Accomplished" sign. The flight-suit image is one of the two defining moments of the Bush failure.

Well, first this guy's confused. The Mission Accomplished pic and the flight suit pic are different.
Second, Bush's supporters thought the flight suit pic was one of his greatest SUCCESSES. Those guys thought he looked like John Wayne starring in Top Gun.

Also, here Joe Klein (same guy) commenting on Bush's aircraft carrier at the time:

JOE KLEIN: Well, that was probably the coolest presidential image since Bill Pullman played the jet fighter pilot in the movie Independence Day.

The press can't even admit they were duped and farked up and were complicit.

That, along with the little ad on the side (the one I got, anyway) that said "How would you rate President Bush? Good, Fair, or Poor?" appearing in an article titled "Bush's Last Days: The Lamest Duck" made me laugh.

FTFA: There was a photo in the New York Times that seemed to sum up his current circumstance: Bush in Peru, dressed in an alpaca poncho, standing alone just after the photo op at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, with various Asian leaders departing the stage, none of them making eye contact with him. Bush has that forlorn what-the-hell-happened? expression on his face, the one that has marked his presidency at difficult times.

I think this is the picture they are talking about:

That's Hilarious. Obama is meeting with/creating a team of economic advisers, working on a new stimulus package, giving press conferences, and Bush is pardoning a turkey.

/Hey now that Obama is going to be president can Firefox add his name to the damn spell check!!!!

In the end, though, it will not be the creative paralysis that defines Bush. It will be his intellectual laziness, at home and abroad. Bush never understood, or cared about, the delicate balance between freedom and regulation that was necessary to make markets work. He never understood, or cared about, the delicate balance between freedom and equity that was necessary to maintain the strong middle class required for both prosperity and democracy. He never considered the complexities of the cultures he was invading. He never understood that faith, unaccompanied by rigorous skepticism, is a recipe for myopia and foolishness. He is less than President now, and that is appropriate. He was never very much of one.

THIS. Good riddance, President Cockbag.

Tenebreux 2008-11-26 02:29:19 PM
No one else to blame but himself. He entered office so intent on making a specific kind of legacy (as a War President) that nothing else mattered to him.

The fact that there are people willing to give Nixon a break now, should tell you just how bad Bush really is. I mean, for so long Nixon was the standard-bearer for shiatty presidents. Now, the torch has been passed to a new generation (sorry Jack). Bush's legacy will be one of incompetence, economic destruction and pure, unbridled corporate greed. Can't wait to read his pop-up book memoirs in about a decade.

Not true, I heard his peptalk to the troops yesterday, very inspiring. The man has obviously been working very hard on catapulting the propaganda. Oh wait that's all he's ever done both terms and surprise surprise!, the man is spewing the same lies he was told to spew since 9/11.

Lame duck my ass. Keep up the good work Mr. President. Keep the lies coming so Obama has to stick with them too.

I thought this was going to be about Mallard Fillmore.

Still, not bad. Bush has been a lame duck for the last 3.5 years anyway. The GOP is so useless and incompetent that they failed to save their party by abandoning their own president. Ouch.

Assuming 75% of Americans and 95% of the world think Bush is a douche, what do you consider bipartisan coverage of Bush should look like. I mean roughly half of conservatives think he is sad. Fair journalism is about reporting reality with neither a left/right bias. If reality casts Bush in a bad light and that is what is reported by the media, that is neither a right or left bias.

And another thing, lame duck? Under his watch right now the government is propping up all major financial institutions and handing out an ammount of money unprecedented in the History of the United States. You can't call that lame duck status.

Might explain this:

Peru's Pisco Sour delights APEC leaders

portal.andina.com.pe

Lima, Nov. 23 (ANDINA).- Peru has successfully promoted its national drink "Pisco Sour" during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit, Peru's Environment Minister Antonio Brack said Sunday.
...
U.S. President George W. Bush, who quit drinking at 40, was apparently drinking a Peruvian cocktail during a meeting on Saturday.

Pisco Sour is a cocktail containing Pisco (a Peruvian brandy), lemon juice, egg whites, simple syrup, and regional bitters.

Look at the ingredients and tell me someone would drink a 'virgin' Pisco Sour (thus making it just a 'sour').
