Wait a second, if they're in moral bankruptcy, doesn't that provide legal protection against their moral debts? Don't they then have some period of time to reorganize their morals and emerge from moral bankruptcy? Or, if that isn't possible, can't they just liquidate their morals completely?

And, me, I'd be happy if somebody would embezzle some of the government. As I see it, we've got way more than we need.

Why? They were duly instituted by a democratic process.
If they committed high crimes and felonies, then there is a legislative branch of government that is there to act as a check upon absolute power.

If you wanted the administration removed, you need to ask Pelosi from San Fransicko why the powers that be were not removed from office.

And if you didn't send word to you congressman or two senators expressing your wish, then shut the fark up.

Why are we looking to blame anyone in the Bush administration for any wrongdoing when there any number of people who may have committed unrelated crimes still not in jail!!1

okay that is the cutest damn puppy I've ever seen including those AW on Puppy cam. Thank god I'm at work so my son isn't here, because THAT puppy I proabably would have to break down and buy

/Have two cats, already which is enough pets
//Besides the smaller of my cats still doesn't get along well with the bigger newer one-constantly swatting at him even though he's twice her size and three times her weight. She'd probably try to kill the puppy outright and she's just mean enough to succeed

5h4wn: Obama should get a corgi!

Corgis are overdone, thanks to the Royal Family. I'd like to see them get some poor, forgotten dog from a shelter. If they feel they must get a pedigree (and there are plenty of those in shelters--I adopted a German Shepherd years ago and there were Labs & Huskies galore available at the same time), they should get a big, happy, slobbery dog like a Lab or Retriever. Malia's allergies be damned!

And, just for the hell of it, a pic of the dog I adopted. I present Morgana, the bestest Long-hair German Shepherd that ever existed. (RIP, Morgana. It's been 5 months and we still miss you)

brigid_fitch: Ex Parte Garland

That doesn't seem to make sense. From the wiki

In January of 1865 the Congress of the United States passed a law that effectively debarred former members of the Confederate government by requiring a loyalty oath be recited by any Federal court officer affirming that the officer had never served in the Confederate government.

Augustus Hill Garland, an attorney and former Confederate Senator from Arkansas, had previously received a pardon from President Andrew Johnson. Garland came before the court and pleaded that the act of Congress was a bill of attainder and an ex post facto law which unfairly punished him for the crime he had been pardoned for and was therefore unconstitutional.

So what was adjudicated was that a crime was committed, a person was pardoned of that crime, and then another law came along that further punished people who committed the previous crime. For this to be equivalent to what is being proposed for Bush is that he would have to find some actual real infraction to pardon people of.

Now, that being said, I am not saying that I think there is no question of whether a president has this power or not, just that I don't see how this case supports the view that he does.

No, there aren't any of those in DC.

It's one of the second tier DC schools. Top tier = Georgetown, GW. Middle tier = American, Catholic, Howard, Gallaudet, Trinity. Lower tier = Strayer, Southeastern, UDC.
