i thought that the dried up construction industry and other low-end labor markets was forcing illegals to return to their home countries? make up your mind, media.

Of course, illegal aliens are the only people who work off the books. And by illegal aliens, this simpleminded blogger means "Mexicans", even though the guy who mows her lawn is actually from El Salvador.

Were you born stupid, submitter, or did you come upon it later in life by some misfortune?

The article has nothing to do with the status of the legality of their immigration. It says all immigrants are more likely to deal in cash, have savings and not run up debt.

I don't understand why more "conservatives" don't just give up their citizenship and start the easy life.

so the people who don't do that well normally are doing well now?

Meh. Good for them.

Actually, they'll do better because companies/people are more desparate, and willing to risk hiring and paying illegals to save cash.

Still, yeah, Ric Romero all the way.

Here in my part of California, young Mexicans families (I have no idea if they're legal or not) are buying all the empty houses in my neighborhood now that the prices are falling through the floor. They sacrificed a lot and worked hard, and now they're starting to move out of the "ten to a house" lifestyle and into single family homes.

I have to admit, I'm jealous and full of admiration of their foresight. I'm a gringa dumbass who rented an expensive house, bought a new car, and worked in a recession-prone job so I'm packing up and getting tfo of this beautiful state, but they lived lean for years and now they're getting the California Territory back the peaceful way.

Expect to see more of this sort of thing during Obama's first year. The Republican party is looking for anything that might distract voters from the fact that they got their asses kicked on economic issues.

It's more close to:

"We need your SS number for a credit card... Oh, you dont? I'm sorry, We have to decine your application."

An average american credt debt is around 8 grand.

8 grand! With interest!

Hey subby, there's nothing preventing you from standing outside Home Despot in November and asking for jobs where you can do just as well.

The guy at the end of the thread 2008-11-22 04:17:25 PM
Legal minimum wage in the state of California: $8.00 per hour.
Average wage for an illegal migrant worker: $1.25 per hour (or less)

Unless subby is:

- invested heavily into the agricultural, construction, or landscaping industries AND feels slighted that his company is overpaying for labor...

- an unskilled laborer who feels that his job opportunities are being undercut by competition AND is unwilling to work for $1.25 per hour (or less) himself...

Subby should shut the fark up and worry about paying of his own credit card debts, you selfish, greedy borrower, who is unable to sustainably live within your means.

Anti-immigration sentiments simultaneously pulls the most rabid Jingoism from the Right and mixes it with the most callous of self-entitlement from the Left.

If they're not paying taxes it's because their (usually) Republican employers are paying them under the table.

pvd021 2008-11-22 04:32:36 PM
My friend is a contractor, his employee who is an illegal immigrant gets paid more than I do. But then again he works a lot harder than I do. I know it doesn't say much for me and my college degree but I guess on a positive note, it lets other illegal immigrants know that if you bust your ass and work hard enough, you can make enough money if not moreso than these 'real' Americans.

And the reason why he prefers hiring illegals or hispanics is because they work a hell of a lot harder, they're more productive, and they don't biatch and complain as much. Don't don't get him wrong, he knows there are plenty of F-ups in terms of these boozing womanizing mexican drunks who will easily spend their paycheck on booze the moment you hand it to them.

$1.25? Proof? I've heard nationwide it's between $8-$12, more than an American would make in fast food or retail.

Around here (middle of buttfark California), you can rent a worker or two for like $50.00 (mostly less) a day (8-ish hours), if you pull them off the street.

However, most immigrants who participate in larger scale agricultural/manufacturing operations have to pay back their smuggling costs. Additionally, they tend to live with each other in houses provided by the company, so room and board factor into pay.

Wow! Guess I'd better quit my job with benefits and go work under the table for $8-12 per hour (doubtful amount) and denounce my citizenship. Live fearful everyday about being caught. I'll live in a house with 10 people and pray I don't get sick. I'll also be sure not to gripe about substandard working conditions and the fact that I will receive no Social Security or Medicare. Who would I gripe too? The government?

Yeah, that will be the life.

\Lou Dobbs is a muckraking racist.

The same arguments for allowing illegals to continue here mirror those for allowing slavery. Once our unemployment hits the double digits will they still be doing the jobs "Americans don't want to?"

According to this article, and many others I pulled up with Google, there are plenty of illegal aliens that do pay taxes. However most of those who would in turn get a tax rebate check in April for overpaying their taxes, don't file for them.

So you have a decent portion of money that should be going back out, instead staying in for the government.

Indeed. A lot of them would also qualify for EIC and the Child Tax Credit, too. Yet, they don't file.

Be careful what you wish for, "conservatives."

When I dealt strictly in cash, didn't pay income taxes, and lived off county health care, I had a lot of money too. I didn't realize that made me an illegal alien.

Here I thought I was an American citizen by birth all along. Gee, who knew? I'll have to remember that: Working under the table and not paying taxes makes you an illegal immigrant.

Idjit.

Um. Duh. ANYONE who deals only in cash and doesn't pay taxes is doing just fine. Whether they are illegal immigrants or not is totally beside the point.

But uh, you know. Keep on trying to stoke those flames of fear. I hope that works out for you and makes you feel better about your victimization from life not being fair and all.

I have an idea. Try using all that energy you're using up by complaining and writing articles about how your not living the life you think you deserve and, instead, channel that energy toward making your life what you want it to be. Crazy, I know.
