(FMQB) Cool Rob Zombie almost finished with new record. "It's going to be a much more intricate, interesting record... having a band helps because we change things at the spur of the moment."   (fmqb.com) divider line 32

Supersexy's Electric Head is great driving music.

Don't count it out entirely. For years, Rob said he'd never release the old WZ stuff (before signing with Geffen). And Lo, the heavens have opened and guess what got released? A WZ box set.

Let's just hope he makes some good music this time. I've been disappointed with the last couple of records.

As for the article: It's good to know that the band has more input. I do miss Charlie Clouser (of Saw series scoring fame and previously NIN), but let's hope Scott Humphrey isn't penning tracks on this. And, yeah, WZ had problems, the loss/bizarre disappearance of a long time drummer caused problems during a tour, and the tedious breakup of Rob and the female bassist pretty much poisoned the band's future.

fark Rob Zombie. He completly missed the point of Halloween and made it just another one of his redneck slasher films.

And who the fark is douchebag enough to name himself Rob Zombie?

Except that the Halloween movie was just a hallow slasher pic, that Rob Zombie actually added depth to. Shallow depth, but a depth none-the-less.
/oh please, I polish John Carpenter's nob just like everyone else, but the movie wasn't THAT great.

Don't get him to do the artwork.

And honestly, the remixes were better.

The point of the original Halloween was that Michael Myers was for lack of a better term, the boogey man. He was the kid next door, raised by a nice suburban family who up and killed his sister for no reason. Rob Zombie made a movie about the abused trailer trash kid turned murderer you read about in the paper every day.

The psychologist in the original was scared to death of him. There's nothing scary about a kid who has easily traceable psychosis as a reason why he kills people.

that single from the punisher movie isn't particularly impressive.

i'll give the album a shot, but just out of respect.

/rob should stick to writing and directing movies

The original Halloween scared the piss out of me (I literally wet my bed for fear of going to the bathroom in the dark) when I was twelve. Now that I am older the archetypal Boogey Man is no where near as frightening as sociopaths like in Devil's Rejects and Halloween. They actually exist.
I can respect your appreciation of the original but as far as remakes of classic horror go Zombie's Halloween was surprisingly good in comparison to TCM, for example.

As much as I love Rob Zombie, I do wish he'd write a second song. Or do an album with Andrew WK, that'd be awesome.

I liked his take on the series, was a refreshing look after 8208349028908234 films of the same thing.

I love all of his stuff & like the way his music has evolved, but IMO he's never topped La Sexorcisto.

They actually exist, that's the point. The kid in the trailer park who was abused by his his adopted dad and whose mom is a negligent stripper....sure, he's going to turn into a serial killer. But the kid next door who is raised in the two story in suburbia who just ups and kills his sister, that's horror and that's what Rob Zombie didn't get.

Valid point, but allow me to retort with

A) I'll make the killer come from a background that shouldn't cause psychosis... it'll scare the fark outta the audience! (almost a communist scare tactic)

b) Kid is really farked in the head, and here's why... and here's what he turns into.

Carpenter's Halloween was good, yes. Great? Welll..... I'd say The Fog was more compelling in the horror department.

I'm just thankful Zombie didn't do any over-long camera pans
/I'm talking about that farked up five minute the-cop-should-have-just-turned-around-and-pull-the-trigger-on-the-villan's-gun- just-to-end-the-overly-long-camera-pan-out-until-the-cop-gets-shot-in-the-head scene

Educated Horses was an absolute steaming pile of a half-assed effort. If this new one doesn't sound anything like it, I'll buy it.

I used to dig Mr. Zombie in high school. He was good at what he did, he found his niche, but after a while his music all started to sound the same. I haven't listened to him in years, has this changed at all?

/he did make some awesome music videos though

Biggest hack in history. Only slightly more talented than 50 Cent. Hasn't an original bone in his body and makes millions. Movies are stupid and are rip offs of other better films and his music, well, try the Melvins or Ministry if you like something with some personality.
Fark him forever and ever, amen.

Mirrorz 2008-11-24 09:48:02 AM
The only track I've liked of his since he started his "solo" career was "scum of the earth."

I prefer White Zombie's music to Rob Zombie's;
House of 1000 Corpses to The Devil's Rejects.

/lawn, get off it.

Loved WZ, but also think Rob's solo stuff is quite respectable. I especially thought Sinister Urge was great. Still waiting for the remixes on that one.

Educated Horses, alas, was weak. But I'm optimistic as to the new one.
