Nobody every called Blink-182 hardcore. Before they blew up, they were doing songs about how hot Princess Leia was.

Wow...they actually referred to that douchebag as "punk?"

The former Blink-182 drummer sued the plane's owners, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., and an airplane maintenance company, seeking more than $25,000 in damages.

$25,000? That has to be a typo.

gas giant 2008-11-22 01:51:36 AM
Yeah... And Avril Levigne is also considered "punk" and "hardcore".
What the hell is wrong with gen y? When a Descendants song about coffee makes you look like a wuss, you should probably stop trying.

NoseBrain [TotalFark] 2008-11-22 01:57:53 AM
Did you ever see the move "Jacob's Ladder"? Where the crazy demon guy's heads started vibrating back and forth about about 10,000RPM?

That's what my face did when you called Blink 182 "Hardcore" you tard.

I liked Dude Ranch. Not super punk, but it's better than most pop-punk albums.

...then I saw them live (Bad Religion was opening for them). I left about three songs in. They suck live, and they were acting like 13 year olds between songs. I was 15 at the time.

/fark armageddon, that was hell

Dude really loved his earnings.

Or he wants his earnings and the mother of his bodyguard wants her child's earnings.

Blink 182 were never hardcore and probably never described themselves as hardcore, and as far as I can tell, were probably better off for it. They were ridiculously fun and nonchalant about their music, and I think some of those overly-serious hipster bands could take something from that. Yes, they acted like idiots on stage, but its not like they were unique in that respect.

/and the Princess Leia song was possibly the best thing they ever wrote

TeddyRooseveltsMustache [TotalFark] 2008-11-22 08:14:24 AM
Travis Barker is a hardcore asshole. I saw his reality show once. He's a total road rage monkey. I wouldn't care if he had died.

HBK: They suck live, and they were acting like 13 year olds between songs. I was 15 at the time.

This times 1,000. I went to see them a couple years ago (hey, $10 lawn seats, why not?) Cypress Hill opened, and were entertaining but "meh" overall. Then Taking Back Sunday (who I had never heard of) ripped the roof off the place. We're talking serious ass-kickery, so much so that I felt compelled to buy their CD. Bad move, the album SUCKS. This was the first time I have experienced a band that ONLY sounds good live- normally, as with Blink 182, it's the direct opposite.

I don't know a thing about this guy, but I'm sure he's pretty farked up over this plane crash that killed everybody else and left him all burned up. $25,000? Somebody give it to him. His medical bills are probably four times that.

As much as I despise his music, he's probably the best drummer on the planet - er, was.

Old blink was pretty good. I liked Buddha and Cheshire Cat. Fast squeaky high school punk.

the most hardcore thing about Travis Barker is that he survived a plane crash - his bands have pretty much always been weenie faux-punk, but you gotta give him that...

You've gotta be kidding me. He is no where near the best drummer ever. That's just just a ridiculous accolade. He's good, that's it.

Anyway, Blink was punk. Pop-punk but still punk. Quit dwelling on genera, you punk purists are worse than the prog rock guys.

I think the music is Ehh, Alright at best. However, as for him, he just entered tool status, cause he is only a millionaire. What's the point of Suing? That amount is nothing but pocket change.

I saw Jack's Mannequin at SXSW a couple years back, and they were awesome. I bought their album and it was awful.
