Hey, if he keeps this up he'll make the rock and roll hall of fame before Rush!

i still stand by my assessment that his performance at Bonnaroo was one of the worst shows i've ever seen.

Listen, I know he's a cocky SOB, but he has produced 3 pretty good Cds with his debut being ALMOST a hip-hip classic. With that said his new CD sounds like he was tripping off acid with spider monkeys in some kind of massive Ego-Sphere for 3 months

i was there too, you know the cool taxi drivers....ya i was one of them
i dont think i've ever seen someone piss off so many people at the same time, every single person that i talked to said "fark kanye"
spelt it out in glow sticks on the path, funniest thing i saw was someone put Jay-z would of showed up on time

plus it sounded like CRAP

Can an artist be great if he/she has an abrasively large ego? Yes.
Can an artist be great even if he/she has repeated terrible live performances? Yes.
Can an artist be great if he/she has a drastic change in sound between albums resulting from extreme abuse of an auto-tune and a focus on using a terrible singing voice?

Probably not.

My favorite part was him at Lolla, in his home town no less, rockin the stage while the rest of the crowd went into town and had fun.

That's weird. I was at the same show and there were at least 40,000 people there the whole time. And it was a great performance.

I've heard from some people that Kanye is actually a very nice, intelligent guy. That this whole asshole thing with his persona is just an act to stay in the media and sell albums, that if he started getting less attention for it he would stop doing it. I can buy the reasonably intelligent thing as he doesn't sound like a complete idiot (opinions not included) but the important thing is...didn't he outsell Fiddy, and Fiddy is supposed to retire now because of it? I'm pretty sure we pushed to buy his last album here on fark for that very reason...

/Fiddy is a WAY bigger douche
//and made a brilliant move with vitamin water

Disagreed. I was there the whole time as well, and it sucked hard. What a cocky pretentious asshole. "Yo y'all, this is another song I produced for a different artist, so we're going to play it now and run around on stage doing nothing. WORD."

Rip off a band who rips people off? (daft punk)... [check]

Rip off 5 distinct scenes from a popular anime for your music video with no refrence...? [Check]

Be a pretentious, arrogant prick with no musical talent? [check]

"The horror! The horror! Oh, you mean sampled?

Pitchfork: How did "Stronger" come about? Did Kanye West get in touch with you personally? Did you have any reservations about letting him use it?

Thomas Bangalter: [Ed Banger owner and Daft Punk manager] Pedro Winter received a sample request from Kanye's management a few months ago. We liked the track so we agreed. We met Kanye later in Lollapalooza.

I happen to really enjoy Kanye's music. Although the new album is not his typical stuff, I do enjoy how different it is.

He's apparently working on another album due out Spring '09 that will sound more like his typical stuff.
