Their last album sold 6million copies.. their concerts sell out. Lesser-known bands that are trying to make it half as big as they are would be stupid to not jump on a tour with them.

This isn't about Nickelback as much as it is a lack of new bands out there that a lot of people want to see. Seems these days there are a lot of niche bands.

Other bands are just worried that the awesomeness that is Nickelback well make them look so bad they well want to break up and take office jobs.

They may be just a 20 cent band but they're still better than KISS.

I want to dislike Nickelback, but they really do have some very catchy songs.

DslainteC: They may be just a 20 cent band but they're still better than KISS.

KISS had some very catchy songs for their time, too. They aren't awful in the same way AC/DC isn't awful - they have very simple songs, that are catchy and/or fun.

Nickelback isn't going to win any awards for incredible musicianship, but they aren't nearly as bad as Fark would have you believe.

There is only one redeeming quality about Nickelback, you hear any of their songs, and you have heard the rest. Get the suck over in one song and move on

IdBeCrazyIf 2008-11-21 03:07:38 PM
Maybe its because they put on a shiatty show. I've seen them live, they act like they're still in the recording studio.

There are album bands and there are concert bands. Rare to find one who can do both.

See AC/DC for an example of how to put on a good show (even if the songs are simplistic garbage at times), and still rock on a record.

Is this the thread where you emo kids get to act all high and mighty because you like some band nobody has ever heard of?
Like Nickelback or not, you have to respect them.
They write good, simple American rock songs that get a lot of people pumped.
Also, their guitar player absolutley shreds.
I like their first two albums better than the stuff they've done recently, but IMO "Rockstar" is one of the best songs ever written about what its life on the road.
So you haters can go back to listening to emo bands crying about their life and I'll keep listening to music that makes me feel good and I can lift to.
When you're older you'll realize how silly it was to dislike a band just because they're popular.
I'm out.

I have almost a pavlovian response where the moment I hear the first note of a Nickelback song my hand shoots out for the next preset button on my radio. Same thing with Maroon 5 and anything with Rob Thomas in it.

You know, there isn't an issue on if something is popular or not, it depends on the quality and depth to the music, and Nickelback fails both tests, but thanks for playing :-)

Superjew 2008-11-21 03:10:09 PM
Nickelback is the worst excuse for a band I've seen in a long time. And now frontdouche Chad Kroeger is ranting about kids playing Rock Band and having fun instead of spending thousands of dollars and years of effort to learn real instruments.

News Flash: Nobody wants to tour with you because you suck donkey anus.

He is truly the Prince of Douchebaggery.

I have seen Nickleback twice and CAN'T stand Chad Kroeger. He is a cocky arrogant ass. I went for the other bands... too bad that Nickleback was sandwitched between them.

I was at Blossom and Chad just kept talking. He said to the lawn seats "How we doing on the lawn" and no one answered. He asked again and was greeted by one lonley "YOU SUCK!"

I'm sure everything you ever liked / currently like is filled to the brim with artistic value and depth beyond reproach of anyone's opinion? You're just another example of what "Scott Thrust" was correctly pointing out in the above.
Let us know what you like and others like you in this thread will have a good laugh.

ah ha we don't HAVE to start rock bands, you old poo heads! You're just old and ha ha! I just scored three million! Ha ha.

I dunno. video games are largely complete wankathons, love 'em or hate 'em, Nickelback has sold a metric f*ckton of records...

I like Mozart, too, but I don't feel pressed to study composition, in Austria, for four years.

I've seen some of the results of kids starting new bands. I've heard so much of the most egregiously, lame, cookie cutter, wall of Line6, wharrgarbl vocal, "I am seau EYYUNNGREHH!" crapola pouring forth from the garages of America to the point where I'm hard pressed to listen to anything that hasn't at least made it to a label. I don't think it's a lack of effort for the kids that WANT to start a band, I think they're just pulling straws from the biggest hog trough full of derivative trash in pop music history, as inspiration.

beezeltown 2008-11-21 03:17:24 PM
I'm sure plenty of (douche) bands would love to tour with them. The problem with corporate touring on that scale is that the opening acts (or their labels) have to pay to open the shows. It would be sad enough to be associated with Nickelback, but paying for that "honor" would be too much for even the douchiest to bear.

Dave Matthews fall into this category. Instrumentally sound and write catchy tunes. Sorry if they're popular and 15 year olds go to his concert, but I still like the band.
