Is it just me or is it hard to focus when this band is playing?

Of all the boys in Blur Alex was always my favorite to look at. He fulfilled the tall skinny guys with big noses phase I was going through at the time.

Much as I liked Blur and the Gorillaz, Damon appears to be a cock & so I wear my "Blur are shiate" Mogwai shirt with pride.

WOO HOO! indeed

I just don't understand how anyone could have claimed with a straight face that Oasis was the "best UK band" when these guys were around at the same time. "Song 2", while clearly not exactly an artistic triumph, will be played at NFL games right alongside "welcome to the jungle" and all those other songs until the end of time.

Plus, you could distill the quality of an entire Oasis album and it wouldn't match the genius that is Bettlebum or Coffee & TV.

This word, 'Classic', it does not mean what you think it means.

Doesn't really need to be "proclaimed", it's just taken as a matter of fact.

I don't you can find any recordings from when they were Seymour online anywhere.

I mean, if anyone can, I'd be extremely impressed...

subby posted the american version of the video. the "stage" they set up on top of the pool actually collapsed on them during the shoot.

here's the original version (new window). it's supposed to be an homage to david lynch.

the only seymour recordings that i know of were released on the "sunday sunday" single.

just think, if there had been no jesus jones, we probably wouldn't have blur.

I'll always be glad I saw them when they came to this side of the world in '97. Even if they'd gone from being a cool underground band (here at least) to being one where 80% of the concertgoers were girls.

Wait a second, that wasn't so bad...

They always sounded more like the Beatles than Oasis anyway.

Oh absolutely. I've never been so compelled to "This" anyone before as much as I am now.

Seriously, that's in my top ten list of favorite songs ever. That and Damon, who is a total dick, looks immensely do-able.

/eh, who am I kidding? I'd do Dave.

TrevorValentine: Best Blur song

Very tough call, but I'd have to go with Chemical World. I think. Beetlebum an impossibly close second though. And To the End. And The Universal. Ooh, and easily Music is My Radar. Absolutely LOVE that.

Still think Parklife is one of the most perfect albums ever...

Philbigtime: I just don't understand how anyone could have claimed with a straight face that Oasis was the "best UK band" when these guys were around at the same time.

the only good thing about blur is they took cardiacs on tour(the ACTUAL best uk band since 1978).

StormDawg: And "This is a Low," and "Death of a Party," and "MOR," and...

Hell yes! 'This Is a Low' - I lived by the sea when Parklife came out, and spent many a chilly autumn afternoon wandering along breezy clifftops and deserted windswept beachfronts, listening to that song. Not many bands can get a good song out of the Shipping Forecast...
