Anything by Billy Ocean, I can't remember why I even bought a couple of his albums, I have since removed them from my collection.

The Cardigans actually completely rock. I just recently heard a lot of their stuff on a road trip and I'd count them among my favorites now.

I have a horrible habit of ripping music from PC and console games that I play. One of the best was the sound track to Quake II which was completely done by Nine in Nails, which at the time was a big deal. Before it was common to hire big names to do the tracks. I have plenty of lame sounding mp3's from those things.

433 [TotalFark] 2008-11-18 04:06:17 AM
Cardigans - Lovefool
Len - If You Steal My Sunshine
Walking on Broken Glass - ? I forgot.
I Would Do Anything for Love... - Meatloaf
Ordinary World - Duran Duran

Barnacles!: (Wow. Insta-full-green. )

Makes me wish I hadn't admitted to liking Maroon 5.

Yeah I agree. That still doesn't take away from the fact that "Lovefool" is one of those songs, ya know?

I didn't see your initial post - I have that song on an album of hits off MTV. I listen to it at least once a year, and I always feel bouncy when they come on.

I stage-managed a dance show a couple weeks ago and one of the pieces was choreographed to that song. I has been stuck in my head ever since.

Girls Aloud - Promise (pops)

They don't sound that good live but you have to give it to them for doing it live and the dresses make me want to do dirty things to them.

Oh and my extensive Lional Ritchie collection.

If that last bit didn't make any sense it was because I was watching the video again and their shiny dresses were making funny things happen in my pants.

Firstly, The Cardigans are awesome. There I said it.
Some of my guilty pleasures are:

"If if makes you happy" Sheryl Crow
"Uninvited" Alanis Morissette
"Miss You" Blink 182
"Crimson and Clover" Tommy James and the Shondells
"Crystal Blue Persuasion" Tommy James and the Shondells
"Ghetto Girl" Mann Feat, Sean Kingston
Anything by Meatloaf

Annie Lennox (in case you were wondering)

Linkin Park. I hate myself for liking them. I know intellectually that they represent much of what I hate about rock music these days. I know they suck. I just can't help myself :(

bloobeary 2008-11-18 04:33:21 AM
No song that I like is lame. They may not all be popular, but if I like them, they're cool.

Everything I like is fully balls to the wall awesome.

The only thing I can think of was that some of my snob asshole friends criticized me for liking Britney Spears's last album. Yeah, it was popular and overprocessed and promoted with her trainwreck meltdown. Still, out clubbing they cheer if Gimme More and remixes of Piece of Me start playing. Hypocrites! (Don't get me started on how lame Womanizer is, though.)

What else? I like Journey and actually quoted Don't Stop Believin' in my profile. Does that suck? I don't know... or care.

Oh, I know a genuinely lame thing: I have a hate/hate relationship with Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl". Sober, I hate this song so much. Still, once when I was totally drunk I sang along to the chorus, which is catchy as hell. I'm still embarrassed at that, because the song promotes this straight girl experimenting faux sexual liberation while reinforcing the dumbass idea that there's something wrong or scandalous about kissing girls. And Katy Perry is an annoying douchebag.

Lilmama [TotalFark] 2008-11-18 05:02:09 AM
"Every Little Step" by Bobby Brown. I will even lip-synch the rap part, cuz I really don't care, I really don't give a damn, my name is Bobby & not Uncle Sam.

Alright, stark moment of honesty here. I was in a grocery store recently and heard a song I hadn't heard in literally over 5 years, if not a proper decade. I started nodding my head and drumming on my shopping cart as I puttered through the aisles until I realized I was listening to MMMBop. Yeah, the Hanson song. Sure, they're annoying twats but goddamn if after years away from them being popular and having some more perspective didn't make me realize that they wrote a very good pop song in the sense of pop music from decades before they were even in their dad's nutsack. Oh, and apologies to you know who, but this (pops)

bobbette [TotalFark] 2008-11-18 05:14:15 AM
OK, since linking is oblig:

Britney Spears: Piece of Me

Truly one of the worst music videos ever filmed by everyone's favourite bipolar, drug-addicted, bald, moronic, barefoot Red Bull-drinking redneck pop princess. Britney's stumble-dancing is almost as bad as her weave. However, whoever wrote the song is a genius for having that much meta-commentary on celebrity show up in a hit single from the most literally overexposed, crazy ass trainwreck of a celebrity.

Jedekai 2008-11-18 05:14:37 AM
Lightning Crashes - Live
Lovefool - Cardigans (GAH! YOU PEOPLE TOO?!)
Everybody Wants to Rule The World - Tears For Fears
Paramore - crushcrushcrush (Is it emo or just sickly-attempt at punk?)
Venus - Bananarama
Lose Yourself - Eminem (Only because I replace the words with "Couch Potato" by Weird Al.)

I laughed like hell on a recent House episode when he had Mmmbop as his ringtone for the team.

Uh, Billie Jean is AWESOME. Early 1980s Michael Jackson was f*cking sweet.

Cybernetic 2008-11-18 05:19:07 AM
Back when I was 19 (circa 1987), I became the ultimate teenage cliche: I took Dad's new car without asking, and totaled it. In those pre-airbag days, I walked away from the accident with a bruise running crosswise from my left shoulder to my right hip--from the seat belt. Without the seat belt, I would have been a grease stain on a two-lane road in rural southern New Jersey.

This was the song playing on the radio at the moment of the accident. It has had a perversely special place in my heart ever since.

Well, as far as pop I shouldn't like goes, Round Round by the sugababes.

On the other hand, you can't beat a bit of dad rock
