I hope I'm able to move out of New York before the next term.

New York can't elect a racist like Guiliani. His speech at the RNC was one of the most racist ones I've heard in recent years.

Would this be a bad thing, really? At least he wouldn't be pushing his hardcore authoritarian agenda on the entire nation. Sorry, New York. Rudy's going to whip you 'fake' Americans into shape. With computer tracking, of course.

You know, if he had expanded his original scope from 'Terrorstat', 'Crimestat', and 'Borderstat' to include 'MoralsStat' to ensure that all morality crimes were tracked too, he might have won over the fundies instead of just the fascists. Too bad, Mr. G.

studleystudstutterson 2008-11-16 02:40:17 PM
Well, considering that he did deliver a speech which was highly anti-Obama at the RNC, and the fact that Obama subsequently carried NY by a 62% to 37% margin (and around 80% to 20% in NYC), I'll go out on a limb here and say his influence there has severely declined.

Client No. 9 2008-11-16 02:40:36 PM
Gee, I wonder what kind of platform he'll be running on...

Bucky Katt [TotalFark] 2008-11-16 02:47:57 PM
He'll keep running until he gets elected to something, anything. Perhaps, he'd have better luck running for douchebag-in-chief

9-11

captain_heroic44 2008-11-16 02:53:25 PM
It's too bad for Giuliani that he wasn't mayor of NYC when 9/11 happened. If he had been, he could have tried to exploit the fame and goodwill generated from that for political gain. Bad timing is a biatch, I guess.

maddogdelta [TotalFark] 2008-11-16 02:55:01 PM
He already had his chance to get my support by being able to find Buffalo if he is put on a car, heading west on the 90.

Patterson, that blind dude, found Buffalo before 9u11ani was able to find it (and 9u11ani ran for statewide office years before Patterson.)

So now, Rudy will have to do some serious tapdancing to tell me that Western New York's homegrown terrorist (^) was really a mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooslim.

(This should be good).

Argh2 2008-11-16 02:55:13 PM
He'll always be President of 9/11 to me.

makjr33 [TotalFark] 2008-11-16 02:57:18 PM
The State of New York does not elect New York City mayors as Governor.
There have been only two -- DeWitt Clinton in the 1820's and John T. Hoffman in the 1860's.
Let's face it -- Giuliani is no John T. Hoffman....

Funk Brothers 2008-11-16 02:59:33 PM
If Hillary wants to run for governor, there can only be one.

Hmm, I wonder how that would turn out - I bet it would be a Rudy-FAIL, but perhaps not. It all depends on how much goodwill still remains in NYC for the guy.

Came here to say this. I didn't care either way for him, but after hearing that vitriolic filth spill out of his mouth at the RNC, I hope he burns in hell.

So he'll lose because his presidential campaign sucked so hard.

I bet he kicks off his campaign for NY gubner in FLORIDA.

Good, Guiliani is a stellar guy and I consider him my bud. Wiser from his election loss he is ready to come back and lead and I couldnt be happyer. The guy actually cares about NYC unlike there other politicians like that stupid Harpy hillary clinton and Charles Shiner. Oh and unlike Obama who wants to take our right to beer arms and will reinstitute a genuine draft. Rudy will pull Wall St out of its recession just like the bass I pulled out of lake miller this morning. Im a king fisherman and Rudy is a king economist. Of coorse you dems hate him because you want to pretend 9/11 didnt happen. Well it did, those towers fell like rolling rocks and it could happen again to any of our other cities whether it be good old Milwaukee, Wisconsin or Sierra, Nevada. (Frankly we should get the terrorists back by crashing planes into there mosques like the Taj Mahal but I degress). So we should put guys who are good with security in charge of our states. Rudy fits the bill hes a natural. And to his opponnent weather it be Micahelo Bloomberg or Elliot Shlitzer or some other fat tired loser the democrats want to trot out, let me just say Becks song "Loser" should be youre campaign song because only once in a blue moon does someone like Rudy come along and everyone knows it. Better call the coronar because youre chances for election are dead and your going in the guinness book for worst heiney kicking ever. God bless Rudy Guiliani and George W Busch, true patriots in the vain of George Washingon, Ben Franklin and Samuel Adams.

I call shenanigans! This man was never a presidential front runner - he was two steps below Ron Paul, and you'd never hear him called a front runner.

Gulper Eel [TotalFark] 2008-11-16 04:46:25 PM
Rudy's the guy you want if you've got a governing culture that needs a good kick in the teeth - and that sure as hell is Albany to a T, but right now Paterson's actually handling things okay and I never thought I'd say that about a legacy guy straight outta the Harlem machine since birth.

It all depends on whether Paterson gets rolled in the budget-cut fight that's going on, and what happens next year when the Democrats take over the state Senate and have all the juice. If it plays out that Paterson is the legisature's biatch, Giuliani has a very good shot.

dervish16108 2008-11-16 05:51:43 PM
Tsunami Ditka: So's Hillary, if Obama doesn't appoint her to his Cabinet.

Great, then we can finally have that Giuliani vs. Hillary race that the armchair political scientists have been getting hard-ons for.

Manfred J. Hattan 2008-11-16 06:10:32 PM
I agree with Gulper Eel, except that I had a little more hope going in (it was his support for charter schools and his openness to vouchers that gave me that hope). Patterson is a mensch who is rockin' the house so far as I'm concerned and the office is his to lose.

/Also, blind jokes.
