Where in the article does it say that, you f*cking moron asshole? Even the author said it was not Biden's fault.

Quit your goddamn childish whining. Grow up.

Also FTFA: "I know this isn't Biden's fault, but please tell the security detail to use a little common sense. "

Sounds like security was doing its job properly: keeping hundreds of hardened killers away from the VP-elect. Better safe than sorry. Hopefully everyone who was allowed in had to take off their shoes, and no liquids were allowed, either.

I think I'll have to pass on the accuracy of a letter to the editor. Maybe the tent was small enough that the secret service decided it was better to keep some people out?

You know what, you're probably right. I had something of a crisis of faith this past summer, and I'm still recovering from it. Actually started before feas moved, by the way.

I'll work on it.

Yep, same old same old.

Tr0mBoNe: It's not like he's ever served. Likely doesn't appreciate the sacrifice.

He was a draft dodger, specifically.

Having said that, apart from Lincoln's speech and of course the GI bill, there have been precious few times that any US president has given the veterans of this nation much actual real value for what they needed. And sometimes we did the opposite, like the Bonus March.

Doublek111 2008-11-16 01:08:21 PM
It probably was his fault, he obviously knows everywhere he goes he has the security detail. "Gee, I wonder what will happen if I attend a ceremony in this small tent with the long line outside..."

/Actually, he probably didn't wonder, which was the problem

My dad's a pacifist (Quaker) and my father in law gave many years to the Navy.

result: I'm a nonviolent person who respects our military very deeply.

Veterans do need to be aided and honored. Not necessarily because of what they did but because of how they did it - with honor, determination, fear and bravery.

I really, really hate it when people say "if you haven't served, you don't understand."

It's not the same, yes, but it's not entirely dissimilar.

I know this isn't Biden's fault, but please tell the security detail to use a little common sense. Most of these veterans have been attending the ceremony for many years, and some of them do not have many years left....The biggest disgrace was seeing a group of elderly World War II vets excluded while select civilian guests and members of the media continued to be admitted into the ceremony.

From the headline
Veterans excluded from Veteran's Day ceremonies so "Joe Biden can have his friends" and press in attendance

I'm seeing two very different interpretations of the events here. Submitter seems to be blaming "Biden and his friends." Bob Onarto on the other hand, seems to be more pissed off at the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs and the actions of security which resulted in limiting access to long term members.

They invited Biden. He comes to show respect. Security was doing their job as well. If Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs continues to invite individuals that need high level protection than it may be time to rethink where they are holding these events. In other words, it may be a good idea to find a new place where more can attend without compromising security.

I myself being a Doormat for DemocracyTM, it is sad to see our veterans treated like this. It does not matter who is at fault, it is still sad to read about people who actually made sacrifices for our country treated in such a humiliating manner.

Letter to Editor: It is a sad state of affairs when the people being honored are not even allowed into the ceremony.

FOX News: A stiff wind kept the U.S. and military flags flying strong overhead as a large group of U.S. War veterans stood strong and proud, wearing medals on their chests and honor in their hearts.

You know it's prime grade B.S. when you can use FOX news to call shenanigan.

So, according to TFA, the Secret Service was responsible (once Biden arrived...), and the author doesn't think the incident was Biden's fault.

Going a little far to manufacture the outrage these days, huh?

Although I agree with you in spirit, ignoring what caused the problem will result in future fiasco's. If security (and their behavior) is the issue and the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs (and its members) want to continue inviting high level officials than something else has to be adopted and/or improved so long term members don't get treated in such a humiliating manner.

I would have to agree with that. Here's a guy (the author) who has a legitimate argument over treatment of his fellow brethren from security measures and preferential treatment given to the media by security and most likely PR members of the organization from which he belongs. Instead, his argument is ignored and made to fuel outrage over something entirely different. What happens? He (and his veteran friends) get "treated like a doormat" again.
