To be fair, Rove did make the country wretched enough to elect a half-breed black Marxist Kenyan Muslim terrorist.

Fortunately, we elected Obama instead.

Dinki [TotalFark] 2008-11-15 10:31:51 AM
Well given that his political style of fear and smear is one of the factors that drove many people away from the GOP, I'd say he has a point.

Asa Phelps [TotalFark] 2008-11-15 10:59:53 AM
Yeah i think he may be right. If McCain had had a backbone and ran his campaign according to his own instincts and values instead of the rovian tactics he was convinced were the only way to win, he might not have lost.

I'm not generally a violent person, but I would gladly pay a fee to give Rove a few pimp slaps...

Asa Phelps: If McCain had had a backbone and ran his campaign according to his own instincts and values

McCain's main attraction was his instincts and values. Why did he ever think the Atwater/Rove path was good for him? Why did he chicken out when he was told Leiberman for VP would cause a floor fight? After Obama's Invesco speech and the hurricane interruption, he NEEDED a floor fight where he whipped ass to show just how strong he was. Instead, he caved like he really didn't believe in his instincts and values. Strange man.

I think McCain did run his campaign on his own instincts and values. If he had values he would not have done it. McCain 2000 was the fake. The real McCain ran this time.

Sort of what I feel at this point. Why do think the McCain of 2000 is real but the one of 2008 is not? Here's what I think: McCain is an amiable and friendly guy in person but who's position on issues are basically all about political expediency. In the early 2000s, after he lost, he saw an opportunity by standing in opposition to Washington and being part of the "straight talk" express because it was unusual at the time. It wasn't working in 2008, so he just flipped.

It will be the first time that people here actually sided with Phelps.

And when Phelps dies....the Fark mods should just abandon that thread. Holy hell, it will be the most epic thread ever. Not even the trolls here try to pretend to defend that guy.

Hopefully he realize that he's also helped accelerate the implosion of the Republican party because of the rift between moderates, corporatists and the religious wings of the party.

There is but it's kept in Cheney's man sized safe and Drew still hasn't figured out a way past the pools full of laser-enhanced sharks in order to get to it.

Please stop. I'm getting warm and giggly inside just thinking about how epic that thread will be. I rarely wish death on anybody, however, I wish death upon him, just because I can't stop thinking about that Fark thread, hehehe...

That guy is insane. Obama's campaign was as different from Bush's as it could possibly be. Again, why does anyone give a rat's ass what Karl Rove thinks anymore? He's not relevant.

by adopting the methods of the Bush campaign and conducting a vast army of persuasion to identify and get out the vote.

Yes Karl, you were the first person in American history to have a GOTV policy. Except yours was designed to get people scared enough to where they shiat their pants whenever they heard a car backfire.

No, no...common misconception. He sold it when he was 9, trying to get into the Student Government in elementary school. It oinly SEEMS like he never had a soul, because it's been so long.

I think Rove is credited with being some kind of genius because no one wants to think the American people could be stupid enough to vote for Bush twice without some kind of brilliant master plan behind it.
