After they finish with P2Ps they're going after Web browsers? let them go after IE. If they thought the nazis were bad wait till they take on microsoft. i mean hell it already beat the US government over the anti trust thing

One thing i don't understand is how do they enforce this? If someone in a foreign country names me in a lawsuit in a foreign court, will anything really happen if i dont respond?

See, it's retards like you who got Bush elected a second term. You didn't pay attention.

On September 6, 2001 the DOJ declared that it issue a slap on the wrist for Microsoft rather than the proscribed penalty.

Tell me the Board of Microsoft wasn't guzzling champagne that night.

I guess they figured they wouldn't even bother pretending a winnable fight with that one.

"The issue central to the case was whether Microsoft was allowed to bundle its flagship Internet Explorer (IE) web browser software with its Microsoft Windows operating system."

So you're saying windows no longer comes bundled with IE?

I don't care what the result of the case was on legal documents, the fact remains that every single windows computer comes with Internet Explorer on it, not that that's a terrible thing, it makes it much easier to download Firefox, and there are some sites that work much better in IE then firefox, but to say they didn't beat the government in this is laughable.

AudioGalaxy was the best P2P system the internet has seen, by FAR. It was WAY better than anything else I've seen. I have no technical knowledge why, but it was extensive and fast and simple.

Hmmm... perhaps 9/11 was a M$ plot to distract the DoJ from continuing in on them.

Microsoft doesn't have that kind of power.

9/11 was a plot by the psychiatrists to distract Americans from the report by Brookhaven National Laboratory stating that ritalin is practically cocaine!

The case was total bullshiat to begin with. It would be like suing Apple for bundling Safari and iLife and then as punishment requiring they share all their APIs with third parties while still letting them bundle Safari and iLife.

piercedgeek: it makes it much easier to download Firefox

If you're installing Windows, and relying on IE to pick up things like Firefox, you're doing it wrong.

Either have a CD/DVD/USB drive with Firefox, antivirus, and firewall, or preferably have a LiveCD/USB of your favorite Linux distro (or BSD, if you're into that kind of thing). Install with no network connection. Doing it any other way is just asking for trouble.

/pen drive with UBCD, Ubuntu, and BackTrack3. What else could you need?

Could you please pray and tell how exactly is one asking for trouble when one installs Windows XP, runs IE, type "www.mozilla.com/firefox", then download?

+1

i loved being able to remotely download music to my computer. when i was in college i'd be in lab listening to internet radio, go online and download the song to my computer in the dorms. brilliant.

the only thing to make it better is if it could download porn too

Because you used Explorer which is Microsoft and they are greedy. See, I spell it like this Miscro$oft. The 's' is replaced with a dollar sign because they like to make money.

I'm not sure what the poster was implying, but technically, you have no reason to believe you're actually looking at Mozilla's website when you type in "www.mozilla.com" or likewise any site that doesn't automatically redirect you to use https with a security certificate validated by a certificate authority.

In the case of Mozilla, you can actually take special care of typing https://www.mozilla.com to avoid this potential security risk.

Of course, his solution doesn't quite address this issue, but it's worth considering when you're being excessively paranoid.

Fuggin idiots. I'm having some serious flashbacks to the whole VHS cassette recording issue. How farking arrogant and stuck up do you have to be to tell someone to program more shiat into their own software/hardware?! It's almost as obtuse as programming a car to not exceed 65 mph even if a dire situation requires you to speed up or die. Lawls, you're dead but you won't get a speeding ticket!

Well when you get right down to it, the applications are useless without the network. Perhaps they should just go ahead and sue the series of tubes.......

How about suing Microsoft for adding the ability to burn CDs in Windows. I'm sure Bill Gates had it developed just so he can make illegal copies of his favorite French albums.

Maybe Google next. I'm sure it exists only to make finding the torrent of Alizee's latest album easier for all the evil pirates out there.
