"Either you're slinging crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot"

He has the former so I think his cred it intact.

Subby should learn more about Lebron James before thinking he's worried about Street Cred.

Maybe you should learn something about the NBA before thinking all the players are "gangsta"

The NBA needs less "street cred," anyway.

He should be penalized for owning an iPod, not for the music contained on it.

Obviously the subby has no idea what street cred is if s/he thinks listening to Barry Manilow in anyway decreases it, all together - Oh Mandy, you came and you gave without taking....

A lot of them are, a number of superstars are as well. The fact that the NBA had to combat the 'gangsta' image publicly is proof enough that it was/is a problem.

Right there with ya, bro. I have TWO Scissor Sisters albums, plus the same Abba Gold bit that everyone has.

Abba I just can't defend. It has come in handy at parties and bars where there is a 3.5 input and enough drugs and whiskey to kill a small family of Pandas. Everyone laughs, enjoys it, and showers extra long the next day. But I'll defend Scissor Sisters. It's good music, damnit.

It's the reason I lug around a 160GB iPod. There are slimmer, easier options, but there's no substitute for having All Things for All Occasions. If Scissor doesn't get played for two months, so be it. But when it's needed, it's great.

/screw you kids and your low-capacity flash players!

He graduated from Akron St. V's. Never perpetuated the thug lifestyle outside of some tatoos. But not all people with tatoos are thugs, but Mr. Rourke was a thug.

Young, black and a ballpayer does not = gangsta.

Just because a lot of NBA players like to smoke weed, get tats and bang white women does not make them gangstas or thugs. It just makes them rich folks that like to smoke weed, get tats, and bang white women.

HipsterHolocaust: Abba I just can't defend.

I will. Dancing Queen is one of the greatest pop songs ever made, The Visitors is a great slice of synth-pop and the rest of the stuff on Gold is full of win. Note: I love prog rock and death metal.

If we're being objective, yes, "Dancing Queen" is a great pop song by almost any pop measure. But you go and defend that when your buddy gets ahold of your player. That's what I meant by "can't defend." :)

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl.

With yellow feathers in her hair, and a dress cut down to there.

She would merengue, and do the cha-cha, and while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar, across the crowded floor.

They worked from eight til four.

They were young and they had each other, who could ask for more?

At the Copa! Copacabana! The hottest spot north of Havana! At the Copa! Copacabana! Music and passion were always the fashion at the Copa...

They fell in love...

Copacabana...

His name was Rico, he wore a diamond.

He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancing there.

And when he finished, he called her over.

But then he went a bit too far, Tony sailed across the bar, and then the punches flew.

And chairs were smashed in two!

There was blood and a single gunshot, but just who shot who?

At the Copa! Copacabana! The hottest spot north of Havana! At the Copa! Copacabana! Music and passion were always the fashion at the Copa...

She lost her love...

Copacabana...

Her name is Lola. She was a showgirl. Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair.

Now it's a disco, but not for Lola. She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half blind!

She lost her youth and she lost her Tony, now she's lost her mind!

At the Copa! Copacabana! The hottest spot north of Havana! At the Copa! Copacabana! Music and passion were always the fashion at the Copa...

Don't fall in love...

Gangsta lifestyle was used quite broadly, and he was definitely thuggish at the start of his career, so much so that he's attempting to desperately move away from it as such things are bad for business and the league leaned on him.

If you're going to attempt to leap into a conversation, either to troll or make a serious statement, it definitely helps if you understand what is being discussed and the context of the words being used.

I guess it was just too complex for you.

Come on Nancy Boy, tell us how LBJ was "thuggish?"
Driving an SUV?
Graduating High School?
Drunk Driving?
Smoking Pot?
Punching somebody in the nads?
Fighting with the coach?
Skipping practice?

What the hell did he do to deserve that label?
