Starkiller was Sheridan's name among the Minbari for his victory over their flagship in the Earth-Minbari War.

Also a subplot that annoyed the hell out of me. The Minbari somehow took offense to his mining an asteroid and luring them in with a "distress" signal to blow it away with a nuke. Partly annoying because the flagship was coming in to finish off a disabled vessel, and partly because the Minbari weren't taking any prisoners to start with. I wanted Sheridan or someone to say this to a Minbari character, but they never did.

All that, and if I remember correctly, he hated the name. Not the deed, no, that was necessary. I like Sheridan, too, but I'd hate to have that name saddled on me when the whole war was a mistake anyway.

Lets not mention that the Minbari where basically systematically destryoing all humans they encountered in a campaign of genocide because one guy died on their side...

Also, large amounts of Alien come directly from Dark Star and parts of Star Wars are obviously influenced by it. Take a look at the external shots of the Dark Star with the communications dome and compare it with the external shots of X-wings with the R2 units, especially the scenes where the dome is sending digital communications to the rest of the ship.

Not surprising when you consider that Dark Star and Alien were both written by the same guy, Dan O'Bannon. He also crewed on all three films doing effects/design work, as did Ron Cobb.
