FTFA: West, who was a toddler when Crash died, got an identical tattoo, and altered his teeth to replicate Crash's.

A make-up artist would have been cheaper and less permanent, moran.

Don't you feel a little ashamed of yourself for thinking that what is or isn't punk matters to anyone over the age of 23?

At what age did Carby Crash decide to become gay?

The "Punker than thou" argument is lame.

It's a game for children to play, while everyone else is busy doing whatever it is they really want to do.

I see loads of irony above me.

Am I alone?

/ Lexicon Devil is a great tune, but not everything the Germs did measures up to that.

Decline never gets old. My favorite part is the Fear show at the end. Already have this on my netflix queue.

That film, What We Do Is Secret, arrives on DVD torrent sites this week after a very brief theatrical run

Yes indeed.

The "punker than thou" argument is stupid.

there is this other side you see....

Jazz is a genre.
Within that genre you have giants like Coltrane and you have lame suckasses like Kenny G.

Black Sabbath is and icon of Heavy Metal.
Stryper is a joke.

Same goes for Punk.
Good Charlotte,Blink 182,NOFX,MXPX and Green Day are on one side of Punk.

The Stooges,The Germs,The Wipers,Richard Hell,Ramones,Sex Pistols and Flipper are on another.

I see a wide margin between visceral angst and bubblegum cotton candy.

I like a band that has their entire collection on one CD. I dont know why but I do.

The Germs are yet another band that is only talked about now because the alleged singer died young, because he was a moran.

Otherwise, they're a footnote in punk history. Supposedly they were the first L.A. punk band to release a single.

Fear, Agent Orange, X, dozens of bands from that era are much more worthy of your attention than the Germs. And, that's just the SoCal punk bands.

Can we care about them too?

While I agree in theory, I don't think it's right to judge people based on what they've been exposed or not exposed to... musically speaking. If some kid tells me they like punk and proceed list Green Day or any of the others in that same genre I tell them they should check out some older bands like Stiff Little Fingers, The Descendants, Kraut, The Freeze etc. etc.

The "Punker than thou" attitude (along with all the farking skinheads) was one of the main reasons I got sick of the hardcore scene in the eighties. It was way more fun when it was just a bunch of rejects and social outcasts getting together to get farked up and listen to their friends abuse their instruments in someone's basement or see a bunch of bands on a sunday afternoon at a dive.
Then it became "serious business" somewhere along the way... lame.

That sounds awesome. Iam real pissed I missed the punk scene. I dont really know what goes into being a punk anymore. I dont think there are any really which sucks. I wouldnt ever dress the part but I love the music and the general 'fark it' attitude. Unfortunately I am a wimp so being a punk has always escaped me.
