I liked that article.

Especially how they used a lot of paragraphs,

because that made it really easy to read.

That story about Dan Quale

was

funny.

The President-elect will also have to get used to handing his glass to a Secret Service agent every time he has a drink outside the White House. The agent carries a small bag in which to pop the glass and later he destroys it.

The idea is to ensure that no unauthorised person has access to the Presidential DNA, but it is not clear how an enemy would use it.

Cool.

Don't worry about the meal charges. All the money coming in from the Civilian National Security Force fines from citizens not displaying Dear Leader's picture properly in their home will cover for that.

Destro will use some of Obama's DNA in conjunction with genetic material fro, some of history's greatest heroes and villains in order to create a genetic superbeing capable of leading C.O.B.R.A to greater glory and conquest.

Didn't know

I saw a special on this on Food Network once. Apparently someone decided that tax payers shouldn't have to pay for the first families daily meals since we are already providing the president with a salary.

That's lame. Bush has the secret service bag up his dookie and destroy it later whenever he drops a twosie outside of the White House. Speculation is because his movements are... well... "epic", if you will.

Obama will be given a set of panic buttons: One for his pocket, one on his desk and one beside his bed. They are credit card-shaped and simply have to be squeezed to summon a posse of agents.

At one time, the President and Vice-President were given three-inch-high models of the Washington Monument to put beside their beds. They had simply to knock them over to summon the guards.

But the models were abandoned after Vice-President Dan Quayle - noted for being clumsy - knocked his over late one night while making love to his wife.

In seconds, the door burst open, the lights went on and Mrs Quayle was thrown out of bed to the floor as bodyguards flocked around her husband to ensure his safety.

Too funny!

I understand the meal thing, my question is how much are they charged? Or is it assumed that it isn't a real issue as every president should be filthy rich from the bribes donations they receive? I mean he is a millionaire from his book, but at 30 bucks per meal, for 4 members of the family, 3 times a day. That is 360 dollars. 360x365 is something like 131,000 per year. Then they pay for dry pressing/cleaning every time they take off their clothes. I think my dad pays 12 for his suite (I have no idea honestly what suites run, I never have that done myself.) He wears say 2 different outfits a day, it slowly adds up.

Am I over thinking this?

That is ridiculous charging the First Family room service charges. It seems so petty when you look at the total costs of maintaining the Presidential Palace, and the Praetorian guard.

I would make sure there was a kitchenette, and go grocery shopping. Grandma could live in and cook meals for the family, and do the laundry just to make a statement. Does the President get a check at the State dinners?

It does seem absurd to charge them room service... considering that a single visit outside the WH probably costs more than what the First Family would spend in an entire year.

It probably works like an allowance. They're allowed up to so much, but once that's gone then they have to start paying out of pocket. Probably to keep them from eating the most expensive thing they can think of all the time just because they can.
