It's a Bush-Bernanke-Paulson depression. Obama will get it up to a recession and then out. But WE all have to do our part.

Sarah who?

Dufus [TotalFark] 2008-11-09 03:06:47 PM
He wanted to be President, he has to deal with the criticism. Even when he has done nothing yet. That's just the way politics work.

That's probably why politics don't work so well, too.

Criticism is healthy.
But there is no escaping the fact that Rush Limbaugh is just a big fat liar.
Lies are not healthy.

I'm still amazed that Rush Limbaugh is still on air. Someone this controversial would have been pulled right off in other countries.

Maybe a conservative can come in and tell us about how they sold their stocks at a loss in order to avoid a minuscule increase in taxes, because the subsequent discussion is always fun.

Jaakobi 2008-11-09 03:27:43 PM
I bet if things get better under Obama, Rush and his listeners will end up so far on the fringe of American politics that no one will even listen to them, and next election we'll probably see a 400+ electoral vote landslide for Obama.

One of these days, Rush will talk himself into a such a rage that his ticker will give out.

Weaver95 [TotalFark] 2008-11-09 03:29:21 PM
Rush was in full nutball glory on friday. he was urging violence towards the 'moderates' that 'betrayed Palin' and 'cost them the election'.

Thray 2008-11-09 03:30:03 PM
The only things I'd ask Rush are perhaps what's a nice brand of butter or bacon, who has the most delicious cookies, what's the most pleasurable prescription drug and so forth.

Crocodile 2008-11-09 03:30:03 PM
Yay, green.

Oh, Rush. Your comedy is sublime, your tears are delicious.

Boy, would I love to see some videotape of Mr. Obama conducting an unannounced, impromptu, on-air visit to Mr. Limbaugh, preferably while he is mid-sentence on one of these whoppers.

Seeing the look on Rush's face as his instinct to lie for influence and his instinct to kiss the south end of north-bound powerful people fight it out inside his tiny little skull would, no doubt, nourish the soul of our President-elect for decades to come.

yeesh.

speaking of wacko-nutballery, I just got reported to the freerepublic moderator for pointing out that Christianity and waterboarding are incompatable.

WTF is up with the Republican party these days!? If you don't support torture, then you're 'un-american'. If you don't like the wall street bailout bill, then you're 'a socialist'. which is ironic when you really think about it....anyways, back to my point. It's like the Republicans have gone loonie. And not in a good way.

I think we're going to see a serious ideological split among the Republicans. And it won't be pretty.

But, to Rush specifically, didn't he say after the 06 elections that he was glad he didn't have to carry water for the Republicans anymore? What happened there?

Most of the time I'm sure he really is as stupid as he lets on to be. But every now and then, not very often, he does something that makes me think it's a sham and he's in it for the money. Regardless, if this incarnation of the Republican Party goes down in flames, he'll be right there piloting it.

These people are their own worst enemy.

As a friend of mine with conservative parents once told me, unless Jesus in all his glory came down from heaven to endorse a Democrat, they would never do so. And these are people who went to college.

Oh yes. Especially if it's done with some suavity.

Don't forget, he'll be traveling with a retinue of Secret Service agents. How about the agents make sure nobody warns Rush they are there...Snerdly suddenly goes quiet. No drama, no yelling, just suddenly a half a dozen guys in suits and earpieces take up positions.

Now the only question would be how to introduce Obama. To have him sidle up to the broadcast room window (assuming they have one between the talk room and the control room) and just stand there grinning for a few minutes (leaving Rush to sputter into the microphone before the reason for his discomfiture becomes clear to the audience), or whether to just stride right in and introduce himself, live on the air, and get all the fireworks done at once.

Then the week after that, do the same thing to Michael Savage.

I was discussing politics with a friend on a message board (stupid, I know), and when the stock market declined for the two days following election day, he basically blamed it on a panic caused by the election of Obama. When I posted links from Reuters, Bloomberg and WSJ that stated the sell-offs were due to bad economic and job news, his response was that investing is more "gut feeling than science". In other words, ignore any evidence to the contrary and find a way to blame it on Obama.

Get used to it, folks.

We are used to it. Nearly a third of the nation still approve of the job Bush is doing. I'm not too concerned about them. Its the middle that matters.

If the economy continues to slide under Obama, it will be called the Obama recession.

If the economy gets better, than this will be attributed to the brilliant fiscal policy of the Bush administration finally taking hold.
