At his request?

Forced Perspective 2008-11-09 09:33:34 AM
They should do this more often. When they were busy searching for a non-existent convict, they weren't writing tickets for non-existent violations of road safety. The State must be pissed, though-- imagine how much road tax they lost out on.

Finally, someone thinking of the children.

Shouldn't they have maybe...checked to see if any inmates were missing? I mean, unless I *just* escaped I'm pretty sure first on my list would be 'ditch the prison uniform'. About the only guy I'd think you could cross off the list when looking for an escaped prisoner would be, well, the guy who looks like an escaped prisoner. This isn't a 50's slasher film, after all.

If only the trooper was armed and had the authority to detain a suspicious individual...

Time to outlaw clothing that looks like prison garb. That'll prevent this from ever happening again.

Wecome to Florida. We is so stupid, FARK is our state's official website.

Heh. I just bought an orange flightsuit/coverall for when I'm getting dirty onboard ships. I got it because my geekitude attracted me to the visibility that would lessen the chances of getting run over on the pier. I'm looking forward to getting chased down by cops. I could use the settlement money.

/well, if I survive

As I was reading the headline, before I got to the end, I thought: "Hey!! The election is already over, and your guy lost!!"

The officer mistakenly thought that the particular individual was unscannable.

skinink 2008-11-09 10:15:01 AM

I bet the officer, who originally falied to question the look-alike inmate, likes that restaurant with all the goofy shiat on the walls and the mozzarella sticks.

What a waste of resources. The cop couldn't take two seconds to stop the guy and ask for i.d.

This would be a img1.fark.net if it weren't Florida.

Guy dressed somewhat like an inmate. Has anyone else noticed that inmate garb and oh I dunno MEDICAL SCRUBS kinda look alike?

GIS Medical Scrubs

GIS Prison Garb

They also assumed that the person who escaped was a rapist/murderer and not someone a little less threatening like a bank embezzler, crooked attorney or chronic marijuana user. I understand threat to society, but in contrast, how long was it until someone said "maybe we should do a headcount"?

And, of course, halfway through the article some goof, some lacking braincells and sense individual, has to pipe in that "Golly geeze, maybe it was a good idea they did that anyhow, cuz ya know women and kids..." and then he choked to death on his own tongue. farking morons being led by morons and co-signed by more morons. Welcome to Florida, ya'll!

I love internet smugness. You are so smart, I bet they never thought to do a inmate headcount. Oh, no, there in the article, it says they did. Curse them for investigating in the meantime, they are so stupid for covering other possibilities.

And a guy escaping from prison, until he can find another set of clothes, is going to be dressed like a guy who escaped from prison. This isn't the movies, they don't always have clothes lines of appropriately sized garb conveniently near.

Damn, I guess I'll be throwing away my jogging outfit then. That reflective stripe down the legs that helps prevent me from being run over might just get me shot in the back one morning.

/FFS people

Yeah, god forbid they cover all bases. Next time they might think someone has escaped, they should just ignore it.

If it turns out that someone did escape, you'll forgive them right?

FTFA: "Still, residents didn't mind the hour of search efforts in their neighborhoods."

So, within an hour of searching they were able to do a headcount and determine that there was no escapees. God, what a terrible waste of time.

/Gotta find little reason to scream "stupid corrupted bacon-filled pigs!"

Feel slightly sorry for the officer. Despite the public statements, you KNOW his co-workers and bosses are going to be giving him a lot of crap over this.
