I never really got that into their music but I will give it an honest listen due to the involvement of Josh Homme.

FTFA: "Produced by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, the untitled project is basically finished, though Helders says that the band will do a bit more recording through the month and then work on rehearsals through December."

There is no "n" in "Album".

I dunno I thought both of their albums were great. Their B-Sides album was worth listening too also.

I also liked the Last Shadow Puppets album. It was.....different but in a good way.

/will listen
//doubts the preteens mentioned even have a clue what the songs are actually about.

is it really tough to figure out:

got chased last night
by men with truncheons
dressed in hats

didn't do that much wrong
still ran away, though
for the laugh

i mean, is it rocket science?

Rocket scientists carry truncheons? I'm so farking confused now. Wait, is it rocket science they're singing about?

/Gonna give them a listen...

Honestly, I think I got through two songs of one of their albums. It was farking terrible.

Hipster bullshiat.

TheJoe03: Hipster bullshiat.

No self respecting hipster would listen to Arctic Monkeys. That said, I saw them at Stubb's BBQ in Austin a few years back with We Are Scientists. Wasn't a bad show.

Arthur the Sandwich Maker 2008-11-08 10:54:01 PM
Not a big fan but it has to be said that while we have the Arctic Monkeys you lot have Nickelback and Linkin Park. So the Arctics are ok with me.

No, hipsters hate them.

I quite like them.

It's very unhip of me.

They suck ass.

The only current music I listen to right now is underground lyrical hip-hop, so I wouldn't know. I just hate pussy rock bands.

And that, my friend, makes you a hipster.

Seriously, that's like a cliche hipster post right there.

I'm pretty sure hip-hop heads and hipsters are very different cultures. I like some party hip-hop too, I was just clarifying my musical tastes. I hate pussy music of all types. I dunno, but when I think hipster I imagine the "ironic" types that like indie rock, not rap fans.

There is a simple litmus test, do you wear vintage t shirts, trucker hats, or order pbr at a bar?

Row1Boston 2008-11-10 09:55:16 AM
Whoa sailor...I order PBR quite often and I am not a hipster, which is nice since I am aging and there is nothing sadder...but I digress. Let us historical PBR drinkers have our beer. thanks.

Also, I like the Artic Monkeys. 1st album was much better but the 2nd one grows on you after few listens.

Satanic_Hamster 2008-11-10 09:59:53 AM
You know, I have both their albums, I like them, but...

1st album - 2006
2nd album - 2007

And a 3rd already? Kinda suspicious / paranoid about the quality of bands that crank out albums too quickly. While it sure beats the Boston Release Schedule, going Frank Black style isn't the best move for most bands.

(for the kids in the audience, Boston was a big rock band that tended to go 10 years between albums)
(for the old people, Frank Black tends to release an album a year)

mpv81 2008-11-10 10:20:18 AM
They're a good band. Any time a band blows up like they did on their first album (or any album for that matter) there is bound to be some backlash. It's human nature.

Thought the first album was great. (I liked the indy version of the album more- especially Fake Tales of San Francisco)
Thought the second album was great as well.
They're at their best in some of their B-Sides.
Can't wait to hear the new album.

Who the fark are the Arctic Monkeys?

Satanic_Hamster 2008-11-10 02:25:59 PM
City: A fairly well known indy/alt/rock band.

They've gotten a fair amount of radio play. A number of their songs have been used in tv adds / movies. They're not exactly obscure.

Suggest using "google" or "wikipedia."

Eh. Gave him the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure you can find people who've honestly never heard of the Beatles.

too quickly? is 12 months too long to create 12 songs?? it's pop music for crying out loud. you know why some groups have huge gaps between albums? they're either a - lazy, or b - at the mercy of a record company who wants to squeeze every red cent they can out of the last album.

and all this "hipster" talk is retarded. so far the only definition i can find of a hipster is anyone who isn't a bud light drinking frat boy, or a clown suit wearing rap dork. please just shush.

It's been a hard day's night and I should let it be, but I've never met heard of the Beatles.
