IRS and NY tax agents should be unleashed all over his a$$ and take turns curb-stomping him. I hope the ethics committee recommends Rangel's expulsion - use him as an object lesson: black shenanigans will not get a pass from the Obama administration.

Unlikely unless he's pressured to step down from Ways & Means or forcibly stripped of his membership. That should be #2 on Obama's to-do list come Jan 20.

Beautiful.

I'll bet any accountant at the IRS can "untangle" it.

The vast majority of the highly educated are atheists.

The vast majority fo the highly intelligent are atheists.

One cannot be elected to office in modern America while admitting to being an atheist.

Thus...

We have eliminated the vast majority fo highly educated, highly intelligent, honest people from office.

Enjoy!

You sure about that? I agree with the third one, but I think you have the other two backwards...it is more like "The vast majority of atheists are highly educated and highly intelligent." I think saying it the other way around comes off as kind of douchey...

Quite sure. A survey of PhDs in the sciences found 93% do not believe in any higher power. More liberal arts Phds run about 78% non-believers. Similar studies founf similar results correlating to I.Q.

Aurgh, what the hell is up with these kinds of articles?

It's not the content that bugs me...

But WTF is with every sentence being it's own paragraph?

Paragraphs exist for a reason.

They help you group related ideas together to create coherency.

I mean Rangel is only a tax and spend liberal IN CHARGE of spending tax dollars in the House who refused to pay his OWN taxes....There's certainly no story there right?

Nahhh, that's not important news to the New York Times.

That said, I find it a bit disconcerting that he helps write the tax laws he has trouble following.

Maybe he should be working on creating simpler, cleaner tax laws?

This is what I love about Democrats.

Jefferson as $90k in the freezer? Throw the bum out! (unfortunately without a conviction they have not been able to do that yet. But they did strip him of his important committee seats.)

Rangel does not pay his taxes? Democrat controlled Ethics Committee investigates. This prompts headlines coast to coast, but they do it anyway.

No one is defending these guys. Just as very few defended Clinton for bombing an aspirin factory due to bad intelligence.

But if Bush goes to war based on bad intelligence AND simple outright lies, Republicans defend him.

Almost none of our elected officials do their own taxes. One tried, and it made big news. (can't remember who)

Most taxpayers cannot do their own taxes without help (I use TurboTaxtm).

False humility is prideful. A college Prof who tries to pretend he is no more knowledgeable than the average Joe, denies reality just so he can fit in. True humility recognizes that reality is greater than us all and always yields to it.

Sometimes to be humble, I have to admit I am better than other people, like you.

The voter is king! One representative, Matthew Lyon of Vermont, was re-elected to Congress in 1798 while serving time.

If a rep has the votes it is hard to get rid of him. If they prove he broke the law they can prosecute. If they decide he is unethical, they can take away his committee seats and censor him, but not much else. It takes 2/3rds to expel a member. only five member have ever been expelled. Three of them for supporting Confederate States' secession.
