About as close as he's gonna get to the presidency.
Better take it.

Can we *not* talk about Hummers and the President this time?

Considering that Sarah Palin is available, I'd say that is a rather poor choice.

I thought the RFK Jr. was stupid. The governator for energy. I thought he was going for people who were qualified. I was encouraged by Rahm Emmanuel.

Energy czar? Exactly what could he bring to the table? Smells like Arrrnold is trying to distance himself from the Party of Fail.

I do not want American energy policies being directed by an Austrian man. They are not as far advanced in the civilisation process nor in their political progress. And if you say this is a racist remark, I say you are damn right it is.

He can also get away with calling climate change deniers "girly men".

After the campaign event last weekend where Arnold called Obama a socialist, I'd put this one at a longshot.

That's because tab targeting sucks ass for when you're at range. Yeah why the hell would Obama want to target someone who was currently out of range but on whom Obama is closing? When you have to tab through six Republican totems before getting to your intended target you start to question the effectiveness of partisan tab targeting.

Hmmmm... trade job as Governor of the biggest state in the union for 2nd Tier and probably marginalized cabinet position... hmmmm... tough choice!

As for Bill Richardson: He's been there -- done that. But I agree on Sec State job. If Obama doesn't offer it to him, then I think Richardson gets shafted.

dervish16108: What does this guy know about energy? What does he know about anything for that matter? Is this just reaching across the aisle for its own sake?

It could be reaching across the aisle for it's own sake. But I think it's smart in this case. Global warming is denied by a large part of the GOP, this may give it a little legitimacy. It may be the case that soon it won't matter what the GOP thinks, but if this is a way to get more people on board with Obama's policies, I'm for it. Plus I think it's important to be bi-partisan wherever possible, it's going to take a long time for this country to get over what Rove did to us.

I've seen this booted around, but I can't believe Ahnold would give up being governor of the largest state for a temporary job running (let's face it) a lower-level cabinet department.

I could believe it if the Guv. were about to retire, maybe. Does California have term limits?

Yes, and he can't run again. It's 8 years, and his are up very soon. I think he got re-elected in 2006, (if I remember correctly) so he has 2 years left?

Darwin's Prophet 2008-11-08 11:58:06 AM
I think he took one look at the CA budget, which just had a few billion more in mandatory spending added to it with the election, and said, "Crap, this just isn't fun anymore."
