Sounds like a typical Friday night in the Castro district.

I think I'm going to see this movie tomorrow. I love the Flaming Lips.

I saw their new movie Christmas on Mars the other day. Psychefreakingdelic, man. If you plan on going to see it (I think it comes out today?), do yourself a favor and eat some mushrooms first. Or at least smoke a goodly quantity of weed.

Plus it's actually quite heartwarming for a desolate sci-fi flick set on a decaying Mars colony.

Hasn't The World/Inferno Friendship Society done this every single Halloween in Brooklyn for like ten years now?

/one of the most disappointing bands I've seen live
//suck it, cult followers

I'm not a "cult" follower of the Lips, deevo, but I saw them on The Soft Bulletin tour and they kicked 115 discrete varieties of ass.

Seen them twice in 3 years. They put on the best show in all of music right now.

Lasers, confetti, spaceships, roadies dressed as superheroes, Santa Claus and Alien dancers, and the music totally rules.

deevo: one of the most disappointing bands I've seen live

The only bands I have seen live more than the Lips are Horton Heat and maybe Jacob Fred. You must have seen them recently, deevo, because there was a time when they were an unbelievable, jaw-dropping live band. Unfortunately, now their act is all lightshows, dancers and hamsterballs, trying to cover up the fact that they are pretty much out of ideas without the LSD.

My post was about World/Inferno, not The Lips, whom I've not seen live.

I'm just saying the event described about The Lips has been World/Inferno tradition on Halloween in New York for as long as they've existed so it's kinda swaggerjacking.

over-rated, pretentious, boring, mediocre,
the carrot top of music is wayne coyne,
all filler, no killer, props aplenty.
the opposite of say, Springsteen, or B52's,
or Gypsy Kings, or Garbage, or Willie Nelson,
or Bowie (last year), or Buddy Guy,
or Aretha, or Tom Petty, or Queen, or Thin Lizzy,
or Van Morrison, or Chrissie Hynde...

/yes i've seen the lips 'live', made me wish i wasn't.
