Shame it's such a weak album. I was hoping that the extra time off had given them the opportunity to write some really great material.

Bit of a let down.

Exactly. Most of the tracks are too slow, and there isn't enough lead in it. It probably could've been done with being recorded outside of a studio.

At least it's screwing the recording industry.

I feel that the new AC/DC album is quite enjoyable. He hits the low tones more and it has more of a bluesy feel. that being said it is a bit redundant sounding, but there are 5 or 6 real gems.

It's charting only because the mullet-headed retards who still listen to ACDC are aren't smart enough to download it for free.

Boy, I remember when AC/DC released their first album. Back in those days we had to walk 20 miles through the snow just to get to school and back, uphill both ways!

I am no fan, but I think the Matlock and Charleston references are really stretching and not funny.

Billy McGoodGuy: They named the band that because they all have the ghey.

The Behind the Music episode featuring them goes a lot into the trouble their name has caused them over the years. They actually pulled it off a sewing machine that belonged to the Young brothers' sister, because they liked how it sounded, and the reference to electricity and power seemed fitting for a hard rock/heavy metal band.

Then they played a gig a little while later and a cabbie taking them to the show heard their name and asked them "So are you guys bisexual?" They had no idea of that meaning of "AC/DC" before then.

And VH-1. Don't forget VH-1.

When I heard that the album would drop exclusively at Wally World, and then saw their first video leading the morning programming on VH-1, a little piece of my soul died.

As my husband is fond of saying.. AC/DC is our favorite 3 chord band. ;-)

If you like it, you like it. If you don't, you don't. I don't happen to like alot of music out there now. And yes, I am old.

True, but if we're to believe the reunion stories, PB&J (or what other reports refer to as Led Zeppelin, even though Plant won't be in the band) will own them all, AC/DC included.

Having said that, I've only heard one song off the album, and it was good. That song alone blows away everything these so-called 'rock bands' release nowadays.

Dude. AC/DC has gotten more pussy in their lifetime than you could ever hope to get in yours. Unless of course, you're Gene Simmons.

Got "Black Ice" the Friday before it came out from our music director - if I hadn't, I was gonna wait until the day after it went on sale and bought it from CD Warehouse. Y'know, just on principle.

I don't understand how a band that has never done anything creative can release a 'let down' album. Is it supremely shiatty bar rock? Par for the course.

This applies everywhere. The top musical acts today are almost necessarily consumed by fans who don't steal it outright, rip from friends, etc. As a result, the record companies keep grooming and marketing absolute farking garbage because it's what the numbers say the people want. Sure it is - to people who get their music from Wal-Mart. This births the phenomenon known as, "OMFG music is f*cking TERRIBLE these days."

Does that sound - wait for it - elitist? Well, yeah. And I'm sorry. But how else do you explain Nickleback and any number of the so-called R&B artists drenching our culture in vapid, uninspired bullsh*t? The era of great music is with us, but it's on our hard drives. It's personal. There will be no greatness like (insert band here) that will top the charts AND be worth a damn. Just because the charts are now driven almost entirely by Kid Rock fans. And don't say iTunes, 'cos that's just as Wal-Mart esque in that it requires no brain activity to set up and use (obviously, otherwise, who would PAY for horrible 128kbps quality?)

These days, having a #1 album is like being proud that you were able to seduce a retarded girl.

Madbassist1 [TotalFark] 2008-11-06 03:10:04 PM
HipsterHolocaust: Does that sound - wait for it - elitist?

Yeah it does...and more than a little Douchey, but I'm thinking you agree with me. If people werent wholesale ripping off artists, the overall quality of music would be better.

And if you arent agreeing with me...well then you're just douchey.

;)
