Technically because Cheney is his own branch of government -he doesn't have to step down, ever. So McCain should get used to him.

Diogenes [TotalFark] 2008-11-02 02:25:11 PM
It actually gave McCain a boost. His polling numbers are way up in the state of Panic today.

Why are all these political ads so over the top and amateur? They look like farking high school films.

Really? I check InTrade, 270toWin and 538. Obama still looks very strong.

The states of Desperation and Confusion are also going for McCain but you won't see that commie Nate Silver show it.

Mugato: Why are all these political ads so over the top and amateur? They look like farking high school films.

There's a deliberate editing trick going on where the opposition are shown as being grainy, and sound distorted. Yet the VO and images for your candidate are always sharp and properly enunciated.

If nobody has already done it, someone should make a fake political video for why you shouldn't vote for the other guy:

"...just how clear is Fred Jones? He's out of focus, looks like a 5th generation VHS copy from a VCR with a misaligned play head. And is that him speaking, or the sound of bees in a Coke can?"

"John Smith. He's in focus. Yet look at him in HD, there's not a blemish on the guy. And listen to this music. Dolby 5.1 with zero distortion. It's not the reason all these people are nodding as he speaks, but it's impressive anyway."

"John Smith. Looking at him on commercials doesn't make you think you need another eye exam."

"I'm John Smith and I approve this message."

When Fark greene'd that slate "30 best political" ads I had that though.

But the Obama and even McCain ads this cycle have been pretty good, production wise.

it'd be funnier if McCain said anything like that

That level of conservative backing might just be the shot in the face arm that the McCain campaign needs to slouch closer to Bethlehem.

ilambiquated 2008-11-02 03:02:04 PM
Notice that Cheney says "executive talent", and not "executive experience" when refering to Palin?

McCain is Bush III.

Obama is just a left wing crazy counterpart to the right wing crazy of Bush. It's the same kind of crazy.

Obama is totally unqualified for POTUS. He has no accomplishments to speak of. Hell, Bush was more qualified for POTUS than Obama is and you see what a success Bush has been.

They're both overachieving cokeheads who are only where they are because they know the right people to get ahead. Obama can read a teleprompter better, though.

Obama is totally unqualified for POTUS.

Kind of like Lincoln, Truman and JFK?

Anyway, unless you are silly enough to think that "experience" is the only thing that qualifies you for President, it is clearly that Obama is about 100 times as qualified as McCain. Obama is a better leader, he is more collected and confident instead of erratic and incoherent, he is smarter, he has a much better temperment, he has much better judgement, he connects with people better and he inspires people better.

McCain is not qualified on any real level to be a president. barneyfifesbullet: They're both overachieving cokeheads who are only where they are because they know the right people to get ahead.

Oh yeah, that's Obama. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth and a family name and fortune to carry him wherever he wanted...

"A bold claim, but you are not a valid Vice Presidential candidate. You wear the trappings of a valid Vice Presidential candidate, you fight like a valid Vice Presidential candidate, but this can be imitated, however. I get that. But still, overall, the ads on both sides seem really amateurish and lame. And we're talking about people with millions of dollars to play with.

The Cheney endorsement was a big F*** You to the McCain campaign from Bush, et al.

The only person less popular than Bush is Cheney and knew if he went public with his endorsement would be the kiss of death to McCain.

You can't be all Marvericky and throw your party and titular head of said party under the bus and get away with it.

Silovik: I wonder what McCain did to piss of Cheney. Cheney is not stupid, he knows this hurts his electability, as well Cheney also seems like a spiteful person.

Cheney is an evil psychopath who needs to be shot in both kneecaps before getting a battery-acid lobotomy. Then he needs to be weighted with ten dozen anvils and dropped into the Marianas Trench. I'm not sure even that would put an end to his evil, but it might buy us some time.

If there was any way to make him dissolve, I'd push that, but he's so evil, I'm not sure that would work. He might come back if someone dripped blood on him, like in "Return of Dracula". We also need to be on the lookout for his evil disciple, because there always have to be two.

Bush and Cheney give fark all about the Republican party. They used it for their raping of the treasury for their cronies, and now they are off to the ranch land Bush bought in South America (conveniently where there are no extradition charges).
