I think this is indicative of the kind of changes people have undergone in the last century or so. In the olden days people could trust a man's word. This man, after realizing he was overpowered, should have done the noble thing and given the guys the money. After they left, he could have gone through the usual procedure. To trick a man in such a manner is worthy of arrest and imprisonment. I am sickened.

meh - they knew each other. he probably OWED them the money.

i'm not really very well versed in gangster politics and haven't seen very many movies\tvshows\stories\videogames\music videos\comics on the matter so if someone could refresh my memory--what happens to snitches in the crime world?

/just kidding - they are the ID10t

The victim and the suspects know each other, police said.

Sounds like the victim probably owed them money for an illegitimate reason, like gambling or drugs.

I also don't know where submitter got the idea it was a homeowner. TFA says it was an apartment and is silent on the issue of ownership.

It gets on the front page more often than you think. :)

I live just a few kilometers from where this occurred, and let me tell you...

In the late 90s I was carjacked by two men using a hatchet to my throat and told to give up my money. I didn't have any on me at the time, so I said I'd drive to get some. Understanding that I didn't want anyone else to get hurt, I drove to get money and gave it to them. They told me they would "cut" me if I told anyone about it.

They left my vehicle after which I immediately went and told some buddies. We drove right to where I dropped them off, got my money back, and made sure we had an "understanding". ;)

If you're stupid enough to be a thief you're stupid enough to screw it up.

HA! Its true, there is more going on than one would expect. Remember the stand-off with the man and his elderly mom who died? That was across the street from me!
The cops woke us up at like 3 in the morning, with all of my upstairs neighbours in tow. The NINE of us had to hang out in my basement bedroom until 2 the next day. We were only allowed to sneak out to take the dog to pee. Talk about ice-breaker...

This is why I moved here. The criminals are too stupid to rob you.

Ah, yes. Those two are nutballs. Last I heard they were living in a van on some property out in the sticks or something like that. She's way *out there*.
