I don't get a lot of the references, but amusing nevertheless.

There are no references with David Lynch.

I would have like the Lynch segment if Palin had come in and said:
"Is it future? Or is it past?... Do you know who I am?... I am the Arm... And I sound like this...
Woooooooowhooooooooooowhoooooooooowhhoooooooooowhooooooooooooooooooooooboooogabo oooogaboooooooogaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ya betcha"

There was, it was the avocado scene and the lounge scene, both from Mulholland Drive.

Did you not see the episode of Twin Peaks in the Red Room with the backwards dwarf? Or is your comment inspired by David Lynch as well?

Good parodies -- I liked the Twin Peaks and Sixth Sense stuff, but I'm not sure I get the whole idea behind this.

the woman speaking Spanish is a reference to Mulholland Drive (I think), remember the incomprensible bit where the two ladies take refuge in a club where a very sad woman is singing in Spanish.

both sets of videos were pretty funny. good effort whoever made them.

Edsel 2008-11-01 11:39:54 PM
Heh... McCain was just on SNL. He was pretty funny, but the overriding themes that came through from his skit were that (1) his campaign is broke and he admits it, and (2) Palin is out for her own best interests and McCain was perfectly willing to stand next to Tina Fey while they mocked her.

no. i loved it. and yes, the David Lynch one was accurately accurate.

ninjacat11: The David Lynch one's probably the funniest.

Agreed. The John Woo one from the earlier film was pretty good, as well. Although, I was expecting a flock of birds to be scattered somewhere in it. Woo seems to like putting a scene with birds fluttering around in many of his films.

Uh-oh, I smell another Juno-bashing thread.

Lets get these out of the way:
"It insists upon iteslf."
"No one talks like that."
"Worst. Soundtrack. Ever."

And I'll add mine to the list: if that movie didn't make you smile, you're a no-heart terrorist that hates America -- there, I said it.

The Dreaded Rear Admiral: "No one talks like that."

I love that one. My favorite Juno criticism. Because if you look at the dialogue in Casablanca, it's just like you're listening to your friends hanging out on Saturday night.

"this gun is pointing right at your heart Louie"
"fortunately, that's my least vulnerable spot"

"yeah, I remember that day. you were wearing blue, the germans were wearing gray".

supension of disbelief, read into it people.

/also, it made me chuckle a few times, it was goodhearted, it had a nice message and the actors were good.

Casablanca sucks.

bobbette [TotalFark] 2008-11-02 12:59:37 AM
I liked all three, but the Wes Anderson one from Part 1 is probably the best.

[Introduction title-card tableau]
John McCain: Election day is coming up.
Well-dressed sidekick: Do you think you'll win?
John McCain: ... Probably not.
[Slow-motion walking with insanely stylized background detail set to 1970s music, including multiple people in mustard-coloured clothing and a Margot Tenenbaum.]

I like anything with Lynch references but it had the worst production values out of all of them... booo. The extended cameo douchebaggery and the "OMG! What's going on!" trying-too-hard-to-be-frenetic cinematography in the Shyamalan one are both dead on.

John Woo was hilarious as well.

Uh, why are you comparing Juno to a movie that was made SIXTY YEARS AGO?

I dunno. The dancing reverse-talking McCain and the boby-doll hand holding the avocado made me laugh my head off. I thought the blue hallway shot at the beginning was the perfect Lynch low-budget lighting.

Maybe because in both cases, the dialogue was unique and unlike what you'd hear on the street.

Maybe because Casablanca is widely regarded as a great movie.

Maybe to elicit dumb comments.

I agree with your point here. That is a retarded criticism.

That doesn't change the fact that Juno was a horribly written movie and the dialogue was unbearable.

Aaron Haynes 2008-11-02 01:49:27 AM
Wes Anderson was my favorite of all of these so far, followed by the Juno one. Very funny stuff.

The Juno and M. Night Shyamalan ones were spot-on, and the last one even had a nice twist, but here are my suggestions for a third installment:

James Wan and Darren Lynn Bouseman (the "Saw" series)
Matt Reeves ("Cloverfield")
Darren Aronofsky ("Pi," "Requiem for a Dream")
Michael Bay ("Armageddon," "Transformers")
