Jimmy Page + John Paul Jones + two hangers-on != Led Zeppelin

I bet they're quite a good tribute band, though. They just need a new name.

I would offer suggestions, but... got nuttin'.

Where is that confounded bridge?

Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones?

They should label it like the new Queen release:

QUEEN
+
Paul Rodgers

They realized it wouldn't be Queen without Freddy, so they just did an addendum to their name.

This is how Led Zep should do it if they tour again.

The only guy I could see doing this is Chris Cornell. Maybe Doug Pinnick.

Call them Less Zeppelin

I've seen some great Zep tribute bands. Some better than the real thing.

If Queen got Paul Rodgers, Zep should get Barry Gibb.

Or David Coverdale just to stick it to the stingy Plant.

I've got the perfect singer:

The only person who has a "Get Out Of Zeppelin Free" card is Bonzo. If Plant won't show, put him in restraints and drag him on-stage.

I am not paying what would probably amount to hundreds of dollars for a nose-bleed seat to watch half of a band that used to have integrity cover their own songs.

I saw Page & The Crowes and I guarantee that will sound more like Zeppelin than anything they can put together.

S'easy...

Half the band so half the name.

Either Led Zep or pelin.

I'd go with the latter but then I'm mildly stupid.

If the Page and Plant tour resisted using the Zep name, then Page and Jones definitely shouldn't. Saw Page and Plant at Glastonbury -- they did an epic Kashmir.

Unless they end up picking Chris Robinson, which seems like a pretty natural choice.

Eh, I saw Robert Plant & Allison Krauss last month, and I can't really blame the guy for not wanting to retread 28-year-old footsteps. It appears that the most unlikely Zeppeling member of all has has the most successful solo career.

I came here for the Chris Robinson props. I don't see another choice either. He sings (new window) Zep better than Plant.

Except he doesn't know the words and flubs them a couple of times on the Album. Also, if you see video from him live, he's singing the lyrics off a moniter, kareoke style.

Just call it "Page, Jones & Bonham".

/his name is Bonham, after all

Get Chris Slade to play drums, he may not sound entirely like Bonzo, but he can do the job. And then just drag Plant kicking and screaming if need be on stage to sing.

Gonzo76 2008-11-01 09:04:09 PM
Get that lead singer from Lez Zeppelin. A longshot, but still.

I vote for the guy from Dread Zeppelin.

It's sad when a band becomes their own tribute band.

I've said it before -- even with Plant it still ain't Led Zeppelin.

I love Jimi Page, but i still haven't forgiven him for Poof Diddy's "Come With Me"

Anyone see the Weeners? Nice to know slayerswine is still out there, holding a grudge.

I have no idea what Plant's problem is, there's still some zeppelin music to be made, why not do it as well as possible?
