(Contact Music) Amusing British boy band Take That urges fans to buy their tickets instead of Oasis, insisting their concerts are better, because Oasis "just stand around and sing." (And suck)   (contactmusic.com) divider line 16

Realizing I may be in the minority, I actually prefer bands to concentrate on the music instead of the theatrics.

As opposed to hoppin' around like a bunch of Kansas City farkots?

East 17 > Take that

Take That is alright... but I prefer Have At You, Draw Scoundrel, or sometimes Huzzah.

I can understand what they mean. I love music and can appreciate well-crafted musicianship, but when I go to a live show I want an experience I can't get from just listening to the CD. I'm not asking people to jump around like monkeys, just look a little animated and be excited about what they're playing.

Prime example of what I am talking about - Tool. Saw them live last year and while the music was tight, all they did was stand there. I got bored after the fourth song and just kept looking at my watch wondering when it was going to be over. I just didn't see the appeal. Then again, I only went to the show because a friend offered a ticket to me (I don't listen to Tool on a regular basis). Seeing Tool live gave me nothing I couldn't get from just putting on some mp3's. But again, that's just me.

On the other side of the coin, I point to Sevendust. Here's an incredibly tight band with some great musicians, and their shows are so high-energy it'll knock you on your ass every time. They are one of the best live bands I've ever seen, and part of that is due to them being so animated on stage and looking excited about what they are playing.

Hmmm, looks like I get a fail at linking. Meh. You figure it out. Copy, paste, blah blah blah.

When has the last Gallagher/Oasis free day occurred here on Fark?

Seriously,
enough already.

It was the same day as the last time the Daily Mail failed to appear in the submissions.

Never understood the hate of Oasis. They are a pretty decent band with a couple douches in it is all.

I'm guessing a mod either really likes or really hates Oasis. Either way, while I realize popular opinion is to consider them douches, they wrote this song. (new window) And in my opinion, that covers a LOTTA sins.

I'm fairly astounded to hear that Take That has been active since Robbie Williams left in the late 90's. That was probably the time to hang it up. Though what do I know; they probably sold millions of records in Europe since then...

A Take That/Oasis double-header would be the worst thing ever.
