That dude's a total pot smoker. No real surprise.

If I had his money hanging out with white trash from Central New York would not be on my to do list.

Another example of how a whole load of money can buy your way out of criminal charges

I guess if you have a million dollars it doesn't buy hot chicks or common sense.

The bonehead, his girl friend and her roommate.

See above evidence. I would say that could be disputed.

As a person from Central New York let me just say...

Good for him, I hope he gets cleaned up and goes back to making absurdly amusing music soon. He really isn't the type that would have done well in prison. They like 'em squishy and with high pitched voices in there.

I've been a fan of the band for years. This story's a relief, to be sure.

spanky_pete: Good for him, I hope he gets cleaned up and goes back to making absurdly amusing music soon.

The band's made it through cancer, lineup changes, and switching labels a few times. They've been together in some form for two decades, so I don't think you've got any reason to worry.

But not a real green dress.

Was it just me, or was this article extremely poorly written? It didn't even mention what drugs he was arrested for until 3/4 through the article, then goes on to mention that they are "best known" for two songs I have never heard of, while neglecting to mention what was far and away their biggest hit. It sounds like the only investigative research done was the writer calling his girlfriend to ask her the names of a couple of Barenaked Ladies songs.

Okay, I'm done.

He was married with 3 kids until he started doing nose candy.

"If I Had $1000000" and "Brian Wilson" were bigger hits in Canada than "One Week".

And better songs.

Man, I was at a going to the Theater with a friend (I think it was to see TDK) and one of the little preamble segments was him talking about popcorn and all the 'special seasonings' he liked to put on it. I nearly died laughing.

i think that it can safely be said that his mental state isn't in the best place right now...he split from his wife of 14 years and i would assume that his children remain with her due to the whole musician lifestyle thing...i think in that situation alot of us wouldn't be glowing balls of common sense...

as to the money buying his way out of it...it was a first drug offense...i've seen worse first time offenders get their charges dropped simply because they were first time offenders...

give the guy a break...i mean seriously, look at the chicks he's dating...isn't that punishment enough?

Hard to believe he fought the war on drugs.

He had to. His hands were tied and his phone was bugged.

go out a Malibu Rum and Cocaine binge..

for some reason i understand his situation.

Or, a slightly higher level of suck.

I saw them live in Niagara Falls last month and during "If I had 1,000,000 dollars" instead a little tiny fridge in the tree fort Steven decided to have a mini-bar that wouldn't even be plugged in because he wasn't allowed to use it. Ed then looked at him and said "Welcome back to New York, Steve"

The audience went nuts. It was funny.

That's the first thing I thought when this first came out in July.
