That's insane.

Insane in the brain.

Axl Rose: "Who?"

B-Real, that relic from the 90's who last had a hit 15 years ago and nobody has heard from since. Oh wait, you fall into that category too.

Gunny Highway 2008-10-28 03:55:48 PM
Cypress has been around for over 20 years and are from LA. There is no way Axl hasnt heard of them subby.

"It's Guns N' Roses only in the sense of the name. It's not them."
He is 100% correct.

Need the fail tag for this one.

/Cypress Hill > Guns 'n Roses

Except Cypress still tours and puts on awesome shows for their fans, both old and new, who continue to pack clubs for them. Cypress is a fun group who has managed to stay together and fun for more than 20 years. Just because you arent paying attention doesnt mean nobody else is.

Having heard the album, I can guarantee you it's not Guns n' Roses until you hear Axl singing, then you get a hint of how good it could've been with the original lineup.
Only song I like is "Better" and it's not even in a style similar to GnR.
The solo in I.R.S. is quite Slash-ish.

Still, he could've called it "Axl Rose - Chinese Democracy"

Nice I will come back to this thread when I get the album. Which will probably be soon because I am getting curious.

I saw Cypress Hill at Lollapalooza. Good show. That said - Slash has actually been positive about this coming out, saying he digs it and is glad it's finally out. If he's willing to let the pass be the past, then what's B-Real care about it?

Bands I'm more annoyed about continuing under the same name:

Alice in Chains
Blind Melon

Your singer DIED. And Layne was NOT replaceable, way too unique of a voice.

I think the same can be said about Shannon too.

Yeah they are a bigger failure than GnR

Liked CH but they are even less relevant than GnR, at least axl could sell out arenas still, I dont think CH could sell out a 5k seat theater solo.

I don't know who the hell B-Real is, but I do know who Cyprus Hill is. I find them annoying.

So, it matters if you say:

(1) "B-Real says ....."
or:

(2) "B-Real (or farktard or asswipe or whatever) from Cyprus Hill says ...."

I can see why most people would say "who?" in response to (1). Less likely that Axl would say that in response to (2).

In any case, the Axl Rose bands, even as lackluster as it is, is better than Cyprus Hill.

I didn't like that track that much. I heard another track from the CD that I did like. I'll probably pick it up.

You two both are wrong because Cyprus Hill sucks donkey dick.

Most people know Cyprus Hill because they played "that annoying song" on a pringles commercial. You know, when they are all dancing then the music stops and then some tard whips out some pringles and then they save that day.

Hell, make me choose between Insane Clown Posse and Cyprus Hill, I might choose Cyprus Hill. But I'd rather listen to Right Said Fred than Cyprus Hill.

oh my bad ...

mixed up one stupid band with another stupid band. Both bands made stupid songs that both have that goofy "eehweeee" sound in them, so it's easy to do. They each sampled some third thing perhaps.

Problem is that you are an idiot Axl sold out arenas in NY and NJ as recent as 2 years ago where CH couldnt sell out a small theater now.

its CYPRESS (unless you are being sarcastic) and frankly B-real is pretty good lyricist. He has constantly put out albums (how many years did Axl take?) and some of them were pretty decent.as a response:
1) DJ Muggs is the cypress hill dj and producer.
2) House of Pain is not cypress hill. DJ muggs merely produced
it. Overall he was not satisfied with their work. They
basically took the Cypress Hill sound.
3) DJ Muggs and the Cypress Hill crew are accomplished artists in their own right.
4) B-Real said it straight up: it ain't GNR. its basically Axl Rose.

GNR Lies wasn't to bad either.

Used to love her... But I had to kill her...

Damn, what the hell happened? Somehow we went from Used to Love Her and One in a Million to November Rain and Don't Cry.

King Gorilla 2008-10-29 11:14:00 AM
In case anyone cares, here's my input:

Saw both Cypress and GnR recently, the Cypress show was 100 times better. GnR was ok, but had no where near the energy and fun of the Cypress show.

/either way, what does B-Real's opinion really matter?
//or mine....

Im thinking just a stupid, misinformed person mixed it up. Axl and B-Real think you suck too.

Yeah but B-Real banged Carmen Electra.

I love all the stuff that was leaked like two years ago, but when I saw the "official" music video (linked from Fark) for Chinese Democracy I thought Axl sounded like Billy Corgan on compressed air computer duster. And that little guitar tag in the second line of the song sounds really cheesy too.

I don't know. Maybe he should go back to the studio and tweak it out for a couple more decades.

TXCROWE 2008-10-31 08:45:05 AM
Actually, Blind Melon is 4/5 of the original band. Also, saw them live recently , tho not AS good as Shannon- the new singer, Travis IS quite good.

GNR is 1/5 of the original band. Its no more GNR than Plant's latest cd is Led Zep.

Bhasayate [TotalFark] 2008-10-31 10:14:59 AM
OH wow... This is the thread that just wont die.

I had a thought.

A case can be made for saying that as long as the primary song writer is in charge of things, the band is "real" even if all or most of the other bandmembers aren't there.

Cases in point:

Robert Smith is the only constant member of the Cure, but all songs have been "real."

Prince has had God only know how many versions of his bands, but it's all Prince stuff. It's not like any of that stuff isn't "really Prince music"

Anyway, I'm find with calling GNR the Axl Rose band. Why? Well, Izzy and Slash et al, had a lot to do with the songwriting, enough to overshadow the fact that Axl was the primary writer.

Still, without Axl, you just coudln't plossibly have GNR. Heck, Velvet Revolver is not even close to GNR, and they got like 3 of the same cats in it.

And I don't think people give Axl enough credit -- he certainly knew how to bring out the best in Slash, for example. He "played" the band, and in doing so was sort of like a conductor, orchestrator. I don't think the new GNR sounds like an altogether other band, so, therefore, I think it's OK to call it GNR, too.

I still call Cypress Hill bantha poodoo, though. That stuff wasn't all that good back in the day, and it's not gonna be around much longer as anything but a footnote (or poopstain). But GNR, like them or love them, they sure made a HUGE impact on, well, all of music ever and ever.

B-Real dissin on Axl is sort of like Soulja boy dissin on Ice T. SORT OF. But, yeah, that's a decent analogy.
