Bjork is as intelligent as she is eccentric. This is a good thing!

I'll leave the thread now, and await all the "where are the hot Icelandic women?" posts...

All they need to do is triple the price of that weird fermented shark they make there. Everyone loves the stuff, yum!

the_pgoat: Thanks for sharing.

Thanks!

The pics don't do justice to actually seeing things there first hand. The fall/winter time is REALLY amazing. The long shadows and golden light from the sun being so low on the horizon all day really makes the scenery look magical.

She's right. As markie_farkie's pictures show, and as those of you lucky enough to have gone have seen, Iceland is an amazing place. It's also incredibly clean. Considering they power 80% of the country through geothermal energy, and heat most of Reykjavik with the water that comes up through the same boreholes, they could very well turn themselves into a high-tech alternative energy economy. Lord knows the U.S. won't.

"...develop smaller companies that they own themselves and keep the money they earn,"

What? Reading up on Iceland it would appear that it is mostly leftist in ideology. Bjork definately is so. Somehow, I don't think the honestly believes that people should keep what they earn. It should be taken to be used in whatever social/economic/environmental justice endeavors that the people are not smart enough to engage in themselves. Companies are evil and don't you ever forget it.

This would be a good time for the UK to get over themselves about importing electricity from Iceland. Building an AC intertie through the Faroes to Scotland would be good for everyone. Maybe the Swedes would pay for it?

Traditional thinking in terms of right/left tends to go out the window when your population is less than half a million.

"Usually I don't notice politics. I live happily in the land of music-making. But I got caught up in it because politicians seem bent on ruining Iceland's natural environment,"

I dont know of hjer plan would work but it cant be ruled out. Surely if sjhe is suggesting this, someone in the government is doing the same. Isolationist Iceland has a nice ring to it.

Lets hope sjhe goes back to music making world sometime soon.

Maybe she and Matthew Barney can cover the island in Vaseline and masturbate using dental prosthetics and while naked gnomes dance to the soothing sounds of Agnostic Front. The proceeds from the ensuing film should take care of everything.

Yes sir?
That is a lucid, intelligent, well thought out objection.
Thank you, your honor.
Overruled.
