That's cute that they take themselves so seriously.

(Sounds like a cross between Tangerine Dream and early U2.)

shaggenstein 2008-10-26 01:43:15 PM
nice find, caught these guys a few times opening for other bands, they always get the crowd going, never feel right wearing their shirt out in public though

BooBoo23 [TotalFark] 2008-10-26 01:52:13 PM
Pretty cool stuff. Never heard of these guys before...

Spend an evening with the techno twins.

I got through about ten seconds of two jagoffs making some severely annoying noise with turntable setups and effects (while the two guys who might be actual musicians sat there with their thumbs in their assholes) before I got annoyed and closed the window.

No wonder their name is such a desperate, laughably ludicrous attention-whore maneuver. I doubt anyone would give a tenth of a shiat about them otherwise.

Coolhaus [TotalFark] 2008-10-26 02:21:21 PM
Is that the hook from Saved by Zero?

I'm going to Julliard to study that echo/reverb thingy.

I spent the better part of yesterday listening to/watching early Pink Floyd albums and documentaries about their experimental/psychedelic music. It was trippy and engaging.

Therefore, I should have been in the right frame of mind for this kind of music. I watched quite a bit of it and tried hard to get into it. However, I found it too harsh and lacking any "organic" vibe. Too much noise, not enough sense.

Plus, their name would be a billion times cooler if they were called, "The Holy F*ck."

ExJerseyGirl [TotalFark] 2008-10-26 02:44:17 PM
I made it through a minute before I turned it off. Does it ever get better?

80's synth revival. Go away.

EdTheHead [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-10-26 02:53:57 PM
So is this one of those "christian rock" bands I've been hearing about?

That's not really fair.

I'm not saying that these guys are good - Mark Spybey does more and better than both of their knob twiddlers combined - but it does require skill and attention.

It can't be studied precisely the same way as, say, guitar, but it's just as easy to suck at it.

Hey now, don't lump us Guitar Hero and Rock Band players in with this lot. Some Rock Band and Guitar Hero plays can actually play the real versions of their instruments. And even farkers who can't play the game constantly screwing up "I Wanna Be Sedated" sound better than this shiat.

The third track is kinda cool. Not a bad find. They're pretty good at what they do. It's fun music. I have an old Moog Rogue and a guitar, and we do stuff like this drunk on friday nights a lot. It's not as organized, and none of us has any idea what we're doing, but sometimes it sounds cool, and it's fun as hell.

bigpeeler [TotalFark] 2008-10-26 04:04:51 PM
The band's name is so edgy and in-your-face. Their music simply must be amazing since they have chosen such an edgy and in-your-face name for their band which is obviously edgy and in-your-face musically.

dillenger69 [TotalFark] 2008-10-26 04:10:46 PM
I wish I could fast forward through the video. Each song sounds interesting but I only need a snippet of each one to get the concept. You have to be in the "right frame of mind" to really enjoy this stuff.

CtrlAltDelete [TotalFark] 2008-10-26 04:12:59 PM
Do people in Manchester talk like that on purpose or it's just some f*cking speech impedy-eye-ment, in'it?

HagarTheHorrible [TotalFark] 2008-10-26 04:14:15 PM
At first I was thinking that they had a cool Ozric Tentacles/Djam Karet kind of groove, and that made me happy. But after a bit it just started to sound like rehashed 80's dance music, and that took my happy away.

I see your ditto and raise you one.

I've seen the traditional "organic" guitar/bass/drum line-up a trillion times already. This is more interesting.

Gunny Highway 2008-10-26 05:18:10 PM
They need a guitar.

irockalot 2008-10-26 05:18:30 PM
Isn't it ironic when a band aspires to such pretentiousness and ends up only background noise?

Add me to the "I like this, thanks Submitter" column.

I shall search them out more.

To all you haters, just because there's not a guitar or traditional singer to be seen doesn't mean it isn't music.

I really don't know quite why hipsters annoy me so much.

They just do.

And I'm only 30 for fark's sake.

....sound and fury, signifying nothing....

TheAnalogKid 2008-10-26 05:37:25 PM
i would say Trans Am already did what they're trying to do earlier, better and with 1000x less pretentiousness. also better musicality and a vocoder.

If you dig progressive stuff that dips into the avant-garde, check out these guys (new window). I just caught a little of their show last night when I stopped at my local brewpub for a growler. I will definitely be checking them out again.

LOL completely forgot about that, I could make better music in 30 mins using acid mix on my laptop, amazing some of these people ever get record deals.

Transpogue 2008-10-26 05:47:53 PM
Ok, them talking about their music halfway in doesn't really help much....

Summary of the interview:

Presenter: So, you're a different kind of band.
Band: Sh'awwww...yeah.
Presenter: You have a controversial name.
Band: Derrrrr....haircut.

Yeah. Good luck with that career of yours, kids.
