And Elton to flounce out in a rage because the flowers in his dressing room are not the exact shade of yellow he asked for.

Bowie finally had his teeth repaired.

It's a good thing they're all farking old now... if they did this in their prime, the world would not be able to supply enough cocaine, marijuana, mushrooms, and rainbow-adorned accessories to support such a concert.

Bowie is my favorite singer, but I'm not sure how I feel about this if it's true.

Exception of Page and Gilmour, Bowie is the only one of the guys mentioned that still has artistic integrity. I was watching footage of the Stones latest tour and god they sound horrible. Same with Elton John. Their nothing but poor jukeboxes.

I would be surprised if this is true however. Since Bowie's heart-scare his only performances have been a 3 song set at the Black Ball, 2 songs with Gilmour in 2006, and 2 2-3 song performances with Arcade Fire.

that sounds freakin awesome.
Mick jagger's stage posteuring/dancing/fastwalking, Elton's piano skills, Bowie's voice [which is surprisingly and wickedly in good shape], and Gilmour's Guitar playing....

Combined age = 249. Wonderfully out of date.

I saw the Stones two years ago and they blew Black Rebel Moped Party off the stage.

Kewl. Before Rick Wright's passing, I'd been hoping the London games would draw Pink Floyd back together a la Live8. This'll have to do then.

/Would still prefer to see a supergroup of Gilmour, Waters, and Mason.

A stage full of the best musicians evar won't necessarily be the best performance. There has to be chemistry among the players, or it'll sound flat. Doesn't have to be positive chemistry, either -- there are lots of albums by bands on the verge of breakup that make great listening.

/according to rumour, Bowie and Jagger had chemistry once or twice during the '70s

Keef had a chemist or three.

Notice how no-one wants to be the drummer?

I know the climate is warming, but that necessarily mean that the dinosaurs will again rule the Earth?

/There are talented young acts out there with awesome stage presence. Find them. Leave the old men in their country estates.

Just for a goof and to annoy everyone, they should only do Winger covers. They could get James Hetfield to play drums.

it'll be funny to watch though

Which was later declared false by Angie Bowie who started the rumor in the first place, and denied by Mick and David. Angie needed a reason to get people to buy her book.

It's 4 years from now. Tell me Keith Richards will be there and I'll believe it. Anyone else in their sixties who survived the '70s? I'll wait and see.

quierosteak 2008-10-26 09:58:15 PM
sounds interesting, but what will mick jagger be doing while the other guys perform music?

Glenechocreek 2008-10-26 11:01:40 PM
Finally, the Rolling Floyds. The way the world's economy is going, they'll probably be paid in potatoes to play then.

poxic 2008-10-26 11:59:26 PM
ErikShocker:

Thanks for the clarification. I knew there was a reason I wrote "according to rumour". I'd accuse either of them of many things, but that did always ring false to me.

quierosteak:

Jagger can play guitar, and quite well. He usually puts it aside for concerts, though, and just prances around (like the Rock Singer Of All Time that he is, if you ask anyone in the biz).

/not in the biz
//wouldn't survive it if I were
///would be the most fun four months of my life, though

didn't jagger play some rhymn [spelling?] guitar on Sticky Fingers, Exile, and Tattoo You?

He's played rhythm (you were close) guitar on a number of RS tracks, though I can't name which ones. My brother -- doing a one-time stint as concert security -- got to watch him play an acoustic version of Wild Horses for a sound check.

/Keef spent part of the sound check bombing around the arena floor in a golf cart
//unrelated to sound checking, but much related to "screw it, I'm gonna have some fun"

I... Must go. This concert... It's calling me, you guys. But... would it be hard for a Canadian to get tickets to the Olympic opening in London? I think so. I don't even want to go to the Olympics, just this concert...

I'll try nonetheless. You never know. My dad and I managed to get tickets to Paul McCartney's big homecoming show in Liverpool last summer, where we flew all the way to England. Maybe it could happen again?

BlankReg: Notice how no-one wants to be the drummer?

Didn't it say he wanted Phil Collins in TFA?

It is smart for England to play to their strengths. They do rock and roll best.

*Ahem* The last time Jagger and Bowie got together, the result was Dancing In the Streets. (new window)

/not a rickroll, though it may actually be worse.

Please Van, don't do it. You are still great enough on your own. This supergroup should open for you.

i got "gold circle" tickets to Live8 and i live in the states. you can almost be sure that someone, somewhere, will have tickets for sale. probably with a hotel and everything. be prepared to spend a fair amount of cash.

but i tend to agree with some of the other posters. take the "big names in rock" and throw them onstage does not mean it will be good. sounds like the clash of the ego's to me...

If Gilmour is even CONSIDERING doing this while he refuses to do a Pink Floyd tour, he needs to be beaten.

Love the guy as a musician, but that's bull. Plain and simple.

The lack of a Floyd tour isn't just Gilmour being a douche, it's due to the old Gilbour/Waters feud. Which from what I understand Waters is letting up on.

/So I guess that does make Gilmour a bit of a douche.
