Researchers have discovered that honey bees can count to four, a report said here on Sunday.

So on Yahoo UK, a report on the ABC is 'here'?

Any beekeeper knows bees can count much higher than that.

the computing power in a small portion of a bee's brain exceeds any desktop computer.
their brain is probably multi core.
maybe the scientists didn't realise the bees count in base 3

In the introduction to the novel The Last Theorem Frederik Pohl tells how he used to impress people in college by telling them he could count up to 1023 on his fingers.

As a former bee keeper, I can tell you that bees are quite simply some of the most fascinating creatures on the planet. Ultimate communist structure within the hive, to the point where speculation about a single "hive-mind" of some sort is not all that far fetched. For the size of a bees brain, the intelligence of these insects is amazing.

Some fun facts
A hive queen mates only once in her life, she stores all of the sperm from that single mating flight, and fertilizes eggs at will (fertilized eggs she lays will become female "worker" bees. Unfertilized eggs will become male "drone" bees) She will lay eggs to achieve a certain harmonious ratio of drones to workers.

Honey cannot "rot"

Worker bees can choose to make any worker larva into a queen, and will do so if their current queen dies, simply by feeding the larva differently

Well, I guess that removes any doubt of whether or not you're male.

Nobody has pointed out that this article is wrong yet? That does not prove that they can count to 4. It only proves that they cannot remember more than 4 different routes to find food. They think they're training them to follow a line...but the bees are just following their own pheromone trails, maybe they can only make up to 4 separate trails of their own. This article sucks.

Yeah, me too. Remember the one where he was trying to count the number of horses on a toy carousel? That was awesome. Cracks me up every time.
