(MSNBC) Amusing As campaign enters homestretch, McCain/Palin campaign is humming along like a finely tuned machine. Just kidding, Palin is a "rogue" and a "diva" and is openly defying campaign strategists and handlers   (firstread.msnbc.msn.com) divider line 411

When exactly was she not a "rogue"? The 5 seconds between her uttering the word maverick?

I hope this is true. It will make the last week or so of their nonsense that much more entertaining.....

Too mavricky for the mavrick himself? That's mavricklicious.

Did McCain just get Rickrogued?

It's funny, you'd think a "rogue" would be a good thing for the guy who keeps calling himself a "maverick".

bronyaur1 [TotalFark] 2008-10-25 05:14:00 PM
Yeah... I want a guy as President who does such a horrendous job picking his VP, and then can't manage either her or his campaign. And a VP who won't go along with her boss's directions.

Are GOP voters really that dumb?

Hobodeluxe: her new show Trueblood (HBO) has her naked in it quite a bit.

Well, once so far - but for sure they pimp her rig in every episode, that maverick rogue (staying on topic).

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-10-25 05:53:14 PM
Well in defense of Palin on this one, there are no "campaign strategists" nor "handlers" who shouldn't be told to go fark themselves.

<END THREADJACK>

I just read this related article at Yahoo. The second paragraph has "positioning her for 2012" written all over it.

She's refusing the advice of the Bush advisers. She's outmavericking the Mavrick. She's the fundies' last hope at keeping control of the GOP. And she's so goshdarn adorable you just can't help but vote for 'er.

/Wake up Republicans, take your party back

Benevolent Misanthrope [TotalFark] 2008-10-25 05:58:21 PM
Considering how well the McCain strategists and handlers have done so far, I'd think following their instructions would be the absolute last thing she would want to do.

Although I do admit that watching the slow implosion of the McCain campaign since about Labor Day has been mavriklicious. I only hope McCain reaches critical pressure this week and finally goes super nova.

bobbette: She's a maverick, she doesn't play by the rules. Ethics rules, rules about competitive bidding processes for pipelines, human decency, common sense, campaign discipline and team playing... a real maverick doesn't have time for that shiat, because she has a date to hunt wolves from a freaking plane.

Amirite Sarah?

I still can't farking believe she spent her debate winking at the American people. What a farking disgrace, and the closest thing to an actual whore in politics you'll ever see.

Diva? If she gets naked and sings opera for her campaign, and I see it, I'll vote for her.

(I live in Massachusetts. The outcome was never in doubt. Not even Romney could have turned this state red. Does anybody have a better decisionmaker than "vote for the semi-hot naked chick"?)

American politics, at least. A porn star ran in Italy. Palin's only 3rd place in Miss Alaska. But yeah. She's always gotten by on flirting and appearing to be desirable, why should she stop doing it now, in her finest moment?

Yeah, Sarah, good luck getting anywhere close to the GOP nom in 2012. Seriously, that would be a tsunami of awesome.

I think she is (or a least should be) more worried about protecting her phony-baloney Governor job.

At this point, she Palin has to know that the McCain ticket is a loser no matter WHAT she does. Might as well roll the dice and just wing it. If nothing else, it'll be a fun ride on someone else's dime.

I figure that she's doing just that because hell, she'll either garner a ton of support from the crazy fringe like Bush did and McCain can't, or they lose and nothing happens. It's win/win for her. She probably won't lose her spot in Alaska, and if she does she'll find somewhere else in the GOP to work, and if she gets the support she's aiming for, she has a real shot at the nomination in 2012. This is just one more piece of evidence that the McCain ticket is done and knows it.

Battle lines are being drawn between the batshiat crazy fringe of Jesus freaks, pro-lifers, anti-intellectuals and everyone else in the Republican party. The GOP tolerated the former because they were little more than a nuisance, but now they are causing them to lose elections because they are so polarizing.

Worse, the batshiat crazy Jesus freak fringe feels legitimized in their support of Bush and their increasing political power through tax-free grassroots political movement in megachurches. They wish to usurp power from the GOP and redefine it as a 4th crusade.

The sucky consequence of it all is that the bathiat crazy Jesus freak fringe is so single-minded in their goal that the GOP can get away with terrible policy and they will still have the allegiance of these people. That's anti-American.

It will take someone like a Mitt Romney to unite the two elements, not a radical like Sarah Palin.

I still have to go with "moron", for even accepting the VP nod in the first place. With the metric assload of scandals associated with her relatively short time in public office, no one with a functioning brain stem would open themselves up to the inevitable scrutiny the nomination was bound to bring.

It was an act of hubris by someone who clearly has no sense of herself, no sense of shame, and no sense of humility.

And this goes back, once again, to the lack of vetting done by the McCain camp. They thought they were getting a VP candidate that would follow directions. Instead they are stuck with someone who has never outgrown the "political boss" mentality and is too ignorant to learn how the game is played at this stage of politics.

"I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I've learned quickly these past few days that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington élite then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone."

Someone calls it hubris, someone else simply calls her a moron...whichever terms we use, I don't think we're all that much in disagreement here.
