I would be considered a fundie by most people on Fark, and I can tell you that there are some of the more fringe type folks who really believe this and are terrified of Obama.

I personally think Obama is a poor choice, but he's not the antichrist. We've survived bad presidents before (Carter, Clinton, Bush among others), and we'll be okay if Obama wins too. Using fear to motivate people only works for so long anyway, and the evangelicals have over-used it to the point where it's no longer effective.

I will say, WHEN the talk shows I hear get racist, this is the subtle meme they push, pretty much. It's scary black radical guy who is going to give away the treasury to "his people" and get revenge on whitey.

...and THESE are two easy ways the host can ease into that sort of talk, because it's "not about ALL black people, just some" and it's easy to work your listeners into a nice indignant frenzy by doing a few "reverse scenarios" of the "but we're not allowed to have a White Students Association, what a travesty!!!11!!" variety.

Note, there are plenty of shows out there critical of Obama for normal political reasons, and I certainly don't think "if you don't vote for Obama you're racist" (in fact I think THAT is largely a strawman to start with). The shows that Go There don't even Go There every week, but when they do, it's pretty noticeable.
